Letchworth: Tutu Tuesday Adventures

Oh, my darlings, it’s Tutu Tuesday! For those of you living under a rock, (and who am I to judge?!) Tutu Tuesday is the hottest thing in the fashion world since the 90’s resurgence of the scrunchie. Every Tuesday, women across the globe embrace their inner ballerina and waltz out into the world with a graceful flair. But forget those stiff, traditional, frilly things grandma wore. The Tutu Tuesday girl embraces **bold colour** and **statement styles** that speak volumes! It's an explosion of movement and style all rolled into one. This week I'm taking my #tututuesday to Letchworth, the lovely Hertfordshire town with a surprising amount of sartorial surprises.

I'm wearing the **newest iteration of a romantic tutu**: a **long, flowing chiffon number** in **soft blush pink**. It has **gorgeous layers of delicate fabric** that float and dance with every move, like a modern-day Marie Antoinette just stepped out of the carriage. This tutu is a masterpiece of femininity, with **hints of Parisian flair**. The blush colour is subtle, yet glamorous, like a delicate rose bloom against a morning dewdrop. I accessorized with **a delicate silver necklace** to highlight the femininity, **matching silver ballet flats** for a classic touch, and **a wide-brimmed hat in a deep cranberry hue** for a dash of sophistication. The result? **Utterly effortless yet striking. Chic, with a subtle dash of the extraordinary.**

Now, for our tour of Letchworth! My first stop was the charming Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation, a truly special place with beautiful gardens and stunning buildings from the era. I admit I did get some surprised looks as I strutted through the cobblestone walkways, but it's all part of the fun. My #tututuesday tutu became the talk of the town – a real head turner in its understated elegance. I’ve already been invited to several of the heritage foundation events this spring! The founder said it was one of the most fashionable weeks they've seen in the last couple of years.

I wasn’t expecting this but as I posed by the beautifully landscaped areas of the heritage foundation, several girls approached me. They were so excited to learn more about the Tutu Tuesday style. Turns out they're big fans of ballet and the whole “dancer-off-duty” vibe is definitely gaining popularity here! My heart did a little flutter. As a former professional dancer, I can’t help but get a thrill when I see others embrace the grace and style of dance through their everyday looks.

My afternoon included a stop at Letchworth’s charming “Letchworth Books and Curios.” A great place to delve into the vintage and quirky finds. I snagged some amazing books on vintage dance wear and a couple of “new” to me designers that make a line of very tutu inspired clothing – perfect for rocking the tutu Tuesday style beyond Tuesday, frankly!

Lunchtime was delicious. A very chic Italian bistro with delicious pasta dishes. Again, a little Tutu Tuesday flair in this setting. So many patrons wanted to know about the style. My little ballet routine in the space as a small dance break entertained everyone. The manager came out with an ice-cold Limoncello (for the win!), and invited me back every Tuesday – just as a patron, I reassured him – but it was lovely!

Next on my Tutu Tuesday itinerary was the heart of the town: the market square. A vibrant spot filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods and bustling with locals. There are so many interesting, local artisans in Letchworth. They do wonderful creations from wood to glass and even some amazing knitwear (hello, Tutu Tuesday scarf and/or sweater? ) Of course, my blush tutu stole the show even as the market square. I was practically a one-woman dance party and even a few other ladies started joining me! You see, my lovelies, the great thing about Tutu Tuesday is how inclusive it is. Any lady, of any age, can strut their stuff and express their style – from **a simple black tutu** to **a wild neon pink tutu**! We're all celebrating being fabulous in our own unique way.

As the sun started to dip below the horizon, I finished my #tututuesday outing with a final stop at a charming independent bookstore. After browsing the shelves and settling on a beautiful hardback book on contemporary dance (with an exceptional photo of my favourite tutu from a performance I was in last year!) I discovered that this book was written by a fellow Letchworth resident. I knew then, my lovelies, that my #tututuesday outing had officially been a success!

So my Tutu Tuesday tip, my loves: Go, explore, and embrace your inner ballerina. Try out some styles. Get creative with the accessories, and never be afraid to turn heads. Whether it’s in a city, or a quaint little town like Letchworth, #tututuesday is a perfect way to celebrate all the amazing women out there!

And my final thought on this particular tutu (the blush, you know), it’s like **an exquisite piece of art**. This isn’t the typical Tutu Tuesday choice – but for Letchworth – a little bit of understated style seemed to suit it, no?

Tips for your own Tutu Tuesday adventure:

  • Find your tutu soulmate: Whether it’s **a classic, romantic, bold, or sporty** design, it all comes down to personal preference. The goal is to feel fabulous and comfortable.
  • Go for the bold: If you want a little more colour in your life (who doesn’t?), think **a bright, citrus yellow**, or a **bold ** **red**.
  • Keep it classic: You can never go wrong with **a classic black or white** tutu, perfect for creating a simple yet chic look.
  • Accessorise like a pro: Remember those delicate earrings and necklace I chose to wear with the blush tutu? The power of jewellery and accessories is everything. Go for a colourful clutch, a beret, or a vibrant scarf.
  • Keep it light: As much as we love tulle, sometimes less is more. Keep the weight and density of the tutu in mind for when you want to go more **bold or athletic** in style.
  • **And lastly, embrace the ballerina spirit!** Let the twirl take over! Dance your way to the most glamorous Tutu Tuesday ever.

I’ve already been brainstorming about the Tutu Tuesday outfits I’m planning next week (though I won't spoil it, darlings – It'll be a lovely surprise!), but I'll be back next week with a #tututuesday style story – same time, same place. Until next week, darlings! Stay fashionable.
