Bicester's Tutu Tuesday: A Fashionable Flutter Let me tell you, you wouldn’t believe the stir I caused when I rocked up at The Crown and Thistle in Bicester today, decked out in a fetching pink tulle tutu, my signature red lipstick, and a cheeky little smile. It wasn’t exactly a surprise to my Instagram followers, who’ve come to expect my #tututuesday escapades, but Bicester? That’s a whole different story! Now, I know what you’re thinking: Bicester, the home of bargain hunting and outlet shopping? What’s a ballet dancer doing there? Well, let me tell you, Bicester’s more than meets the eye! Not only is it a haven for designer discounts, it also has a surprisingly vibrant social scene, and a growing appreciation for all things fashion. So, why not inject a dose of sartorial flair into the day, right?
A Tutu for Every Occasion For my #tututuesday outing, I opted for a classic romantic tutu with layers of delicate, flowing tulle – just perfect for my whimsical walkabout around the town centre. But let’s face it, there’s a tutu out there for every style and occasion. From the elegant black swan tutu, all sleek and sultry, to the quirky and vibrant colour-blocked tutu, you can totally rock this look in your own unique way.
The Tutu Transformation Here’s the thing about a tutu. It has an uncanny power to instantly transform a look from casual to fabulous. I paired mine with a sleek black blazer, statement earrings, and my trusty ballerina flats for a touch of effortless elegance. But feel free to unleash your creativity! You can style a tutu with a chunky knit sweater and ankle boots for a casual chic vibe, or go full-blown princess with a fitted top, heels, and a glittering tiara – it’s all about having fun and embracing your own personal style.
Tutu Tuesday Adventures: Bicester’s Hidden Gems As I gracefully waltzed around Bicester, I noticed something incredible: a hidden world of shops and cafes, overflowing with charm and character. Bicester is renowned for its luxury shopping outlets, and who am I to argue with the allure of a discounted handbag? But beyond the bargain deals, I discovered a world of independent boutiques, quirky coffee shops, and local businesses that deserve to be celebrated.
First Stop: The Biscuit Box First stop, The Biscuit Box. This whimsical little tea room, tucked away on a quaint cobbled street, is a feast for the senses. The air is filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods, and the walls are adorned with a delightful mix of vintage china and mismatched teacups. I indulged in a delectable afternoon tea – cucumber sandwiches, delicate finger pastries, and a selection of artisanal teas, all served with an elegant vintage teapot – oh, the glamour! And wouldn’t you know it, I met a fellow tutu enthusiast, Mrs. Fitzwilliam, a stylish retiree, who told me she even used to wear one as a debutante, before debutante balls got so formal. You’ll be seeing a video on my Instagram later about her fabulous tutu memory!
Next: Boutique Chic Feeling invigorated by the tea and pastries, I continued my stroll, and found myself wandering into The Emporium, a treasure trove of independent fashion labels and unique jewellery pieces. There was this divine emerald green dress in the window. You just knew I had to try it on, and I thought, “this looks so good it could work for a ballet party too! " What better way to make a grand entrance? The owners, Annabelle and Samantha, told me how passionate they were about finding special, stylish clothes that you wouldn’t find on the high street. And you know what? I felt a connection with their commitment to style and individuality. I snagged a beautiful linen dress – and I’m already thinking about what other gems I might find in Bicester next! I’ve even been told the designer outlet mall often has designer dresses at a fraction of the price, perfect for any event or ballet performance, of course.
A Little Bit of Bicester History Now, before you get the wrong idea, Bicester is not all about shopping and tutu-fied strolls! It has a rich history that dates back to medieval times, and I had the pleasure of taking a quick detour to Bicester Priory, an ancient monastic site that stands proudly amidst the modern town. You see, I am passionate about historical dance, and nothing beats actually experiencing the location of a play you've learned to help understand it more. You wouldn't believe the architecture, the details, and what a story it told about the times it was built.
Beyond the Tutu: Embrace Your Own Style To sum up my Tutu Tuesday adventure in Bicester: it was a vibrant, unexpected, and stylishly satisfying day! My goal is always to inspire others to express themselves and to have fun with their style, and I think Bicester is the perfect place to do just that. Don't let the size of the town fool you, it has so much more than it might first appear. There is room for every style, and so many individuals I met who had such wonderful energy and spirit.
Let’s keep the fashion spirit alive, everyone! Rock a tutu, experiment with your outfits, and dare to be different! And don’t forget to follow my #tututuesday adventures for more fun and fashionable finds! #tututuesday
