Tutu Tuesday in Tottenham

Okay, so, Tutu Tuesday is normally a thing that happens in, you know, ballet studios. Like, *actual* ballet studios, not just my living room. But, this week, things are different. I'm heading to Tottenham, specifically to the North London branch of the Ballet Boot Camp (it’s like yoga but with pliés – if that makes sense, but whatever). I mean, I’m normally *about* it, but this time it's extra.

Why? Well, first off, I have a new tulle to debut. It's a real statement piece, this one, I mean, literally, it’s a full-length “classical” (fancy name, I know, but basically a full tutu - and seriously - can I even handle this much fabulousness, this much tulle)? I think it screams 'elegant' meets 'dancer girl, ready to *slay* at Ballet Boot Camp.’ But seriously, the best part about a "classical" style tutu? You know, beyond all that 'floating through the air' stuff? It actually goes really well with a t-shirt and chunky trainers, you know, just like that casual-cool vibe. Because that’s Tottenham for you! That casual, cool vibe. (Although, *clearly* the most important element of any look is attitude!

And yeah, I know this is kind of *a lot*, right? Tulle, North London, and a serious amount of fancy footwork? And on top of it all, a huge sense of optimism because this is, after all, a **#tututuesday** vibe and well, frankly, any day with *this much tulle* just has to be a good one. I’ve gone for the "classics", you know, the 'big, voluminous', one, not, like, one of those, “romantic tutu” (for *someone else*) thingies you know the kind: a single layer with that 'almost nothing' sort of effect. Nah. This baby's got *volume*, girl. Seriously, it has that, like, "I’m a dancer, look at me!" kind of vibe! That 'let’s move! ' kind of thing, which *may* not go so well with a coffee date on the Southbank or at Covent Garden, but actually I’m hoping this whole thing might be just a *teeny tiny* bit *dramatic*. Dramatic in a good way, that is - I know what you are thinking. Like a “good drama” kind of vibe. A tutu does *that* to you. It *transforms* you. And this week, we're all about that, you know, transforming the mundane, the ordinary, into the utterly extraordinary!

Let’s be real, getting to the Ballet Boot Camp was an adventure. I’ve had to make some choices. *Big choices.* And not *only* because my closet has kind of a problem when it comes to tights. We are talking tights, ballet, North London. But this is *so* me - it’s all about breaking down expectations, y’know? Tutus in the everyday! Or… actually, this time, ballet boots in Tottenham!

But I'm off to get this thing going. ( I can’t get any more excited than I am). And let's be honest, the more I think about it the more this outfit just starts making so much sense… maybe we're all a bit “Tutu Tuesday” underneath it all! Let me get this right!

  • **Think about this:** Is it all just about "serious dancing" (because that would be one very serious life). Or is this kind of a "what’s wrong with expressing yourself"? I think it’s *all* about a certain kind of freedom and maybe about being able to take that freedom *right* outside the door.
  • **Here’s the thing**: In London, things can be just so… kind of… same. Yeah? We are stuck in routines – same stuff every day. That is a big 'no no' when you think about this kind of outfit, this level of style - so, if your inner *fashion diva* can’t make it out to *your* North London (what’s *your* local vibe?) it's a time to change, baby!
  • **Listen to me**: A **#tututuesday** might not be the usual way to get your, uh, ‘cultural fix’, or at least it's definitely *not* something you’d normally expect in London but just listen… maybe, *just maybe* - this is exactly how you do it!

I have got my "ballet buns" on - even though there is *definitely* a "punk" edge (what’s *your* punk edge?), I mean *punk is *big* in North London! So there’s just going to be a kind of 'serious, powerful feeling about everything…* which you will understand once you *feel* the 'ballet vibe'! And a ‘serious-powerful' tutu kind of look! The ballet itself is totally worth it - it's a real 'take you back' kind of a workout - and that ‘classical style’ really sets off your legs! This tutu was made to dance, that’s for sure - like I just know we’re gonna turn it out *big time*! *And* that feeling of freedom is gonna come flowing out all over the place!

But don’t think about that - it's about all that tutudom. Or perhaps even all that tutudom in *this* Tottenham! ** #tututuesday **

Stay stylish,
