Tutu Tuesday in Bath: A whirl of tulle and tiaras

Okay, so maybe "whirl" is a little too literal. I mean, I’m not exactly pirouetting down the cobbled streets of Bath, although I did feel a tad like a princess in my pale pink tulle tutu, thanks to its delicate floral embroidery.

Let's rewind a little: Tutu Tuesday in Bath! You heard right, my fellow fashionistas! Forget those Tuesday night "wine and cheese" nights. This is the new hotspot for the trendiest of trends - the tutu, naturally. I was among the brave souls who ditched the jeans for something a little more dramatic. We were, as one might say, a vision in pink (and black, and white, and even lavender, depending on the tutu flavour).

But seriously, this isn’t just about any tutu. It's about celebrating the glorious tulle explosion that has overtaken the world. Think “classic romantic” (we had some stunning “fountain” style tutus!), "bouffant", “tutus” that were a bit more modern and funky. It's about finding your own tutu, be it romantic or rock n roll and making a statement. The tutus at the event ranged from simple and sweet to complex and extravagant, reflecting a mix of ballet styles, but above all they were eye-catching and confident.

Let me tell you, this is NOT your traditional ballet school “everyday practice” tutu. No sir, we were rocking high-fashion and oh so daring. We were channeling those ballerinas, but you know, the ones that look amazing on the catwalk! One thing’s for sure: a tutu always makes a statement!

And guess what? The vibe was nothing short of fabulous! It wasn't a stuffy "tea and cucumber sandwiches" event, mind you, but more of a lively mix of fun, fashion and of course, an absolute love of everything tutu! There was even a tutu-inspired fashion show!

Bath is, in a word, a picturesque place (as I’ve written in my previous blog posts!) and I am officially a Tutu Tuesday Bath convert! It's an experience that transcends fashion; it’s an opportunity to channel your inner princess, even if that inner princess wants to channel a rock ‘n roll princess.

Here are just a few highlights of the day. If I were being completely honest with you, every single minute of it was fab, but hey, let’s highlight the highlights, right? (Oh, and BTW I promise the rest of this blog post is only a third of the way through, because well
a tutu-themed Tuesday is WORTH a detailed blog post):

Things that were totally AMAZING: * The Bath shop scene. It's simply adorable: charming boutiques bursting with colour, charming cafes, the entire atmosphere just radiates vintage vibes. * The energy! Let’s just say it was palpable, which I know sounds a bit weird, but if you’re reading this then you are an enlightened tutu enthusiast like me! (Seriously, we’re talking like a whole new level of tutu fanaticism.) The entire street vibrated with excitement! The air buzzed with tulle. * Tutu vendors were absolutely everywhere. I know, right? Tutu haven! And let me tell you, each stall seemed to feature an unique interpretation of the classic tutu - so so creative and very “now.” One minute you were looking at classic satin-based ballerinas, and then the next minute it was some sort of amazing handmade macramĂ© tulle creations (these reminded me of summery vibes, think crochet sun dresses but with a seriously elevated twist. If you’ve never tried to crochet, well
.it can be very complicated. To make an outfit like that would be a monumental achievement! I saw so much creative energy on display.

Here’s my outfit, BTW
and the top tips on picking out your tutu:

* You just KNOW the moment you find the “perfect” tutu. It's a feeling. It will scream out your name like it was destined to be a part of your life! * Tutu fit is crucial, you want to feel comfortable AND be able to strut your stuff. It shouldn't feel restricting in any way. * “The Statement Piece”. Now, this might seem obvious but
well..the Tutu is really “the piece,” (the entire piece if you get my drift), you can go all out with tutus as part of your whole look, or go the simple way - think the "Little Black Dress" of the tutu world (I chose black, and a super simple classic silhouette.)

And guess what else? The Tutu Tuesday vibe totally rubbed off on everyone there. We were dancing on cobblestone, striking poses (my friend was a TOTAL natural
she must have been a model in a past life
), snapping photos, basically a whirlwind of tutu fashion and joy. It felt so good to express my fashion individuality! It wasn't about dressing up, it was about letting loose and having fun!

Let’s just get this out of the way, though - I was nervous, okay?! What if no one else showed up? Would it feel awkward dancing and twirling with only myself and maybe a confused tourist? Well, I wasn’t exactly ‘alone’. Turns out that people love to show up to the #tututuesday fun. Bath became this tutu fashion parade and it felt
it felt incredible, totally a celebration! (Oh and don’t get me started on the Tutu Tuesday group pics, you really gotta check my instagram for the pics! #tututuesdayinbath (this will probably be my most liked post ever. Seriously, I have like hundreds of photos from the day! It was impossible to choose
but seriously, every pic was fantastic!).

Bath Tutu Tuesday made me feel utterly joyful and totally confident - what could be better? So go out there and rock those tulle layers! This event proves you can express yourself while still rocking something fun and a little whimsical! Don't be afraid to dance to the beat of your own Tutu Tuesday drum. It's all about that confidence!
