Tutu Tuesday in Hastings: A Ballet-Inspired Day Out

So, my fellow tutu-lovers, itā€™s that glorious time of the week again ā€“ Tutu Tuesday! As you know, my wardrobe is basically just an endless stream of tulle and satin, so I always relish the chance to wear my beloved ballet-inspired outfits and embrace my inner ballerina. This week, however, I was feeling a little more adventurous than usual. Instead of my usual trip to the studio or a casual lunch with my fellow dance mates, I decided to head down to Hastings for a day of exploring, tutus in tow, of course!

Hastings is a quaint seaside town located in East Sussex. Itā€™s known for its historic Old Town, with its cobbled streets, colourful shops, and charming cafes. And honestly, I can't think of a better place to have a fabulous #TutuTuesday - especially as the weather's still quite sunny.

I started the day by treating myself to a delicious pastry and latte at the Hastings Coffee Company (you MUST try the raspberry and white chocolate tartlet!). But, no trip to Hastings is complete without a trip to the beach. After enjoying a cup of tea and a few (more) delicious pastries - I'd gotten a bit hungry.

You won't believe this, but I had this amazing idea! I wore my beautiful powder-blue tutu ( itā€™s my favourite because it flows like the ocean) paired with my usual leggings (practicality is key when you're exploring all day), a bright pink jumper, and my go-to, ballet flats (you can't go wrong with comfy and chic). The look was a little more relaxed than the strict classic tutu (you know, the stiff ones you usually see at the ballet). I knew that a stiffer classic tutu might be a bit too much, but, let's be honest, who's to say there isnā€™t room for a little creative flair? It totally felt perfect for a day by the seaside.

Okay, let's just say the people of Hastings were pleasantly surprised by my look (some folks took pictures! ) and even more thrilled with the idea of a #TutuTuesday walk by the ocean. I took a few pics myself in front of the historic Hastings Pier. I couldn't resist striking a pose. Of course, I wasnā€™t twirling and leaping (well, I did, maybe for just a sec!). It was still too breezy, even in a wind-breaker - my hair had already begun to go haywire from the gusts. And let's just say a big tutu blowing up into a giant bubble is not exactly chic.

Speaking of ā€œChicā€, I found a few incredible vintage shops in the heart of Hastings Old Town. The vibe? Totally charming, filled with must-haves - you know, treasures I absolutely had to snag. It was fun looking for a special piece of ballet-inspired vintage - thereā€™s nothing like finding that rare vintage leotard. I also found this beautiful handmade, delicate scarf that would look amazing paired with any kind of tutu.

Before wrapping up my little adventure, I couldnā€™t leave Hastings without stopping for fish and chips. Classic British seaside treat, Iā€™d say! The crispy batter was so good and the fish? Oh, the fish! The flavour? Simply divine. I savoured each and every bite of my lunch, sitting on the beachfront - soaking in the gorgeous seaside views (donā€™t tell my ballet teacher I'm bingeing on carbs!). I swear I even managed a little dance with my chip (sorry not sorry) on the boardwalk! A real #tututuesday in Hastings celebration.

I finished off my Hastings excursion with an enchanting stroll along the seafront as the sun began its descent, painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and violet. It was simply a gorgeous moment and an amazing end to an awesome #tututuesday day.
