Rugby: Tutu Tuesday, the New Must-Have for a Night Out

As a ballet dancer and a passionate follower of all things fashion, I've always been fascinated by the power of a well-chosen outfit. And, you know, when you find that piece that just elevates your entire look ā€“ well, that's something special. This week, it's all about tutus. Yes, tutus!

Let's face it, the humble tutu gets a bit of a bad rap. In the past, they were pretty much solely confined to the realm of ballet performances and those quintessential fairytale moments on stage. But Iā€™m here to tell you, **Rugby is all about Tutu Tuesday!** You can definitely bring them to the street (and make a big fashion statement while youā€™re at it)!

Itā€™s all thanks to a new, fabulously fun fashion trend sweeping the nation: **Tutu Tuesday** Youā€™ve likely seen the photos. Women in all their glamorous glory are turning up in everything from the traditional romantic pink tulle tutu (which I still love, personally, and recommend wearing with some statement jewellery for a truly ethereal feel), to more modern options, such as **the asymmetric, the sequined, or even a daring feather boa tutu.**

Tutus have truly become the perfect way to embrace both elegance and playful personality at the same time. Thereā€™s something undeniably fabulous about swirling into a room in a billowing, feminine cloud of tulle ā€“ especially in Rugby, which, with its historic charm and bustling night scene, has been surprisingly quick to adopt the trend, so much so, it has become #TutuTuesday in Rugby. The vibe here in town, the shops, even the pubs seem to have been transformed. The whole town has joined the ā€œdress up, letā€™s have some fun, Tutu Tuesday movement!

Iā€™ve seen it first-hand: in the stylish window displays of **Ruby Red Dress** on Regent Street; in the quirky art gallery at the **The Gallery at the Bridge**, and even on a trendy tapas night at ** The Bullā€™s Head Inn **, everyone was wearing tutus and everyone looked gorgeous!

For my own Tutu Tuesday look this week, I decided to try a look that incorporated the Romantic Tutu, because as a dancer I still have a soft spot for the classic style. My chosen look was this beautiful blush-pink **French Ballet tutu, a simple and delicate design made of layered tulle.** To avoid being too ā€œstagey,ā€ Iā€™ve paired it with a sleek, black velvet top from the sale at **Rugby Vintage on the High Street,** and Iā€™m accessorizing with some delicate silver jewellery. For those of you who like a touch of bold colour in your look, a black leather biker jacket works well as a great statement. A little bit edgy and cool and adds another layer of fashion.

Now, I am well aware of some of the thoughts you might be having: ā€œTutus? Surely they are only for childrenā€ ā€“ that was my first thought, too. But seriously, tutus really can work on anyone. There are so many styles available now and all of them are totally gorgeous, and really wearable if you find the right outfit for you. ** The most important thing to consider when styling a tutu is to pair it with something more subdued.** Your top should have a fairly streamlined, minimal silhouette, like a basic t-shirt, a fitted blazer, or a sleek satin slip for something more feminine. Then, all you have to do is to get the colour of your tutu right. **There is a shade to flatter every skin tone**. The right color will enhance your features!

A Few More Tips for Mastering the Tutu:

  • **Don't be afraid to mix and match!** Experiment with different colours, textures, and lengths of tutus. Some of the more modern styles have layered netting in bold primary colours or neon accents for a little more contemporary vibe.
  • **Accessorize wisely!** Jewellery and shoes can complete your Tutu Tuesday look perfectly! If your look is a traditional, romantic ballerina style I suggest matching earrings or a bracelet to your tutu and wearing stylish, simple kitten heel shoes.
  • **Have fun!** Let your personality shine through your choice of Tutu style! Remember, Tutu Tuesday is all about embracing fashion with a bit of joy and excitement.

So go on, get into it and be adventurous with your next fashion look in Rugby and share your outfit with the rest of us #TutuTuesday
