Tutu Tuesday in Guiseley Well, fellow tutu lovers, it’s #tututuesday and it’s time for some serious tutu talk! This week, we're heading out of the city and venturing into the charming town of Guiseley, Leeds. Guiseley – you might not know this but it has a surprisingly vibrant arts scene. I always have such a fabulous time in Guiseley! Today’s outfit is a real classic. It’s all about elegance and simplicity - think romantic, timeless ballerina. A powder blue romantic tutu paired with a luxurious silk black top, that looks as good with my ballet flats as it does with my Chelsea boots. You can dress this look up or down so easily. I'm talking a balletcore dream, with a sprinkle of vintage vibes, for that truly special #tututuesday outfit. It's not about being too “in your face”, but making a subtle, understated statement – and when you're in a romantic tulle skirt, that statement speaks volumes! So here’s a look at why I think Guiseley is the place to be on a #tututuesday! • Firstly, **the atmosphere** is utterly delightful! The air feels fresh, people are friendly, and there’s always something happening. And don't even get me started on the shops! Guiseley is overflowing with charming independent boutiques. And yes, the most exciting part for me, it’s the vintage clothing gems I find. Today, I found a fabulous retro leather jacket in a small antique store – this will look fab with the powder blue tutu - but hey, it’s also perfect with ripped jeans and trainers. And a little Guiseley secret is that, with the friendly vintage clothing shop owners, you often find out more than what's on display – some fabulous items are just hanging around behind the counter. • Speaking of charming shops, don’t forget to **visit Guiseley’s Farmer’s Market**. The market is a bustling hub of fresh local produce. So delicious, and perfect if you are a fan of cooking at home. If it’s not a Farmer’s Market day, just visit the independent butchers or the baker, where you can buy some fantastic artisan breads. • You’ve gotta get into **Guiseley Theatre**. From plays to musicals, this place has it all and, for any tutu fan like me, their programme always features at least one ballet performance a month, with an open stage rehearsal for everyone to watch on Friday night, that’s so much fun! And best of all – most events are very affordable, so don't be surprised to find yourself in an entertaining evening with a good friend, for less than a fiver. • And of course, a little **shopping spree** on Guiseley's high street is a must on any #tututuesday. Don’t just look for big name brands, Guiseley has the cutest independent boutiques - selling fashion and interiors - with some fab hidden treasures, and unique clothing items you won’t find anywhere else. • When your shopping’s done, **refuel at a quirky local café**. And yes, with my little powder blue tutu, there's a hint of ‘whimsical princess’ happening - so of course I need to indulge. The selection of cakes, from the vintage tearoom to the organic cafe are absolutely divine, I’m never leaving Guiseley without grabbing something from my favorite cake counter – I always feel spoiled! The staff in these cafes is always so friendly – even my friends and I will happily spend a few hours, gossiping over afternoon tea! So yes, when it’s #tututuesday, Guiseley becomes the centre of my world! This is my style, this is Guiseley! #tututuesday Now, we’re not talking about those huge poofy, romantic ballerina tutus, that you would only wear to the theatre! I’m into the new breed of tutus. Let's just say we’ve been influenced by the likes of Simone Rocha and, let’s be honest, with the influence of #balletcore we’re all taking it seriously, aren’t we? What we need are versatile tutus, tutus we can take with us, and can look sophisticated on any occasion! Yes, for any fashion lover like myself, who enjoys a balletcore moment – tutus are a MUST-HAVE fashion item! But here’s the thing – I know there are so many different types of tutus, from the classic to the super-modern ones and, if we are honest, there are those that just won't do - don't fall for the hype! A look at different tutus, in this age of #balletcore: • Let's start with the **‘fashion tutu’**: The best way to describe it – a slightly longer and wider, ‘cocktail tutu’ A great look with an oversized knitted jumper and thigh-high boots for that effortless vintage style. Or paired with a T-shirt and trainers for a cool and casual look – great for a lunch with friends! • The **‘festival tutu’** is becoming a thing - think light layers of soft tulle with an effortless, modern style - that looks just as great with denim as it does with a bohemian-inspired dress – for all the festivals that are coming! • **The ‘short tutu’** - just above the knee - the modern girl’s version of the ballet tutu - pair with an oversized shirt for a cool, effortless vibe and don't forget a great pair of ankle boots - a perfect look for running errands or popping into a concert! • The **‘sparkly tutu’** is back - now think about a ‘micro tutu’, with a mini sparkly skirt in shades of grey or black, with that rock’n’roll vibe and a heavy focus on embellishment and bold colors. Yes, you are ready for your rock concert! • But for a casual weekend look, the **‘layered tutu’**, the shorter tutu in layers of different fabrics - I love the textures. Perfect to look smart but casual for your lunch date, as you walk around your local markets, like Guiseley’s Farmer's Market. And the look is always complemented by a comfy cardigan - ideal if the day turns cold! This is my #tututuesday advice. Be bold, and make sure you’re choosing tutus that work with your personality and sense of style! There's nothing worse than seeing someone forcing it with an inappropriate style – fashion should always be fun! And that’s what’s fabulous about tutus! They can be sophisticated, they can be a playful fashion item and you can wear them anywhere. From Guiseley to your weekend getaway!
