Tutu Tuesday in Littlehampton: A Whirlwind of Frills and Fun It's Tutu Tuesday, and you know what that means! That's right, folks, it's time to get your twirl on! This week, I'm ditching the usual dance studio and hitting the streets of Littlehampton, a charming coastal town that's definitely not known for its tutus. Well, not yet anyway! But that's exactly what makes today's #Tututuesday adventure so much fun. I’m Sarah, your resident tutu aficionado and blogger. As a professional ballet dancer, I spend a lot of my time in the rehearsal studio, surrounded by other dancers, all decked out in our beautiful, (but often impractical) costumes. So, I wanted to share the love of tutus with the world, and that’s how Tutu Tuesday was born. Every Tuesday, I'm going to a different place, to showcase a different kind of tutu – be it the romantic and floaty Victorian tutu, the playful and voluminous fairytale tutu, or even the more streamlined and athletic modern tutu. Today, however, I am embracing the playful side of tutu life. Now, let's talk tutus! • **My Tutu Pick:** For my Littlehampton venture, I've opted for a vintage-inspired tulle tutu with a light and airy feel. It's adorned with shimmering silver sequins that sparkle in the sunshine. The classic design provides just the right amount of fluff and flow, which makes it perfect for a breezy day by the seaside. Plus, it comes with a soft, tulle top that allows me to add some sparkle while staying practical enough to explore Littlehampton's streets with ease. • **Where to Find Tutu Perfection in Littlehampton:** Littlehampton, nestled on the South Coast of England, is charming and well known for its fishing industry, harbour, and seafront. For me, though, the search for tutu-inspired garments in this beach town felt more like an expedition! I wandered the streets, keeping a sharp eye out for potential tutu finds. As expected, I found nothing directly related to ballet, or tutus. That doesn’t mean that my hunt wasn’t fun! It’s certainly different to visit a place to see how everyday items can spark imagination for tutu creation. The first stop was a local charity shop that's packed with treasures. It’s a great place to browse and find inspiration! There’s nothing quite like unearthing hidden gems that can spark creative ideas. The store’s selection of silk scarves, light-weight pashmina-style scarves and lace-trimmed fabrics reminded me of tutu designs. The vibrant hues of teal, crimson, emerald, sapphire and cerise would make brilliant tulle designs for ballet and dance schools. I picked up some silk fabrics to experiment with creating my own bespoke tutu design. Next stop: Littlehampton Library. What a find! I stumbled upon an illustrated history of ballet from the 18th and 19th centuries. And let me tell you, those tutus are a sight to behold – truly whimsical and beautiful. It’s fair to say that this tutu adventure was about embracing the power of inspiration and creating my own #Tututuesday narrative, rather than seeking out ready-made outfits. I've definitely learned that finding inspiration doesn't always mean following the norm. It's about exploring, experimenting, and finding creative ways to transform everyday items into a Tutu Tuesday masterpiece! • **The Adventure:** After browsing through Littlehampton's bustling high street, I found myself strolling along the promenade, where the salty sea air and gentle sea breeze blew through my hair. While this might seem out of character, in my everyday dance world, it’s a treat to spend a day exploring a town so different to where I normally am. To capture the essence of the seaside, I whipped out my camera for some truly #tututuesday photo ops. The light reflected on my tulle, making it shimmer like a disco ball! I even got a few surprised (and very British) “Ooh, love your tutu” remarks from passing pedestrians! While not every location is conducive to tutus, Littlehampton was an ideal setting to express my creative vision. I believe everyone deserves a touch of Tutu Tuesday magic! So, the next time you're feeling a little out of the ordinary, put on a tutu, spin around, and make your own memories – I dare you to spread the love of tutus and make #tututuesday a worldwide phenomenon! My Thoughts on the Day's Adventures in Littlehampton: It’s a small town but it packs a real punch in terms of beautiful beaches, picturesque seaside views, historic charm and independent shops, so it makes for a delightful day out. In my #Tututuesday quest to find inspiration and reimagine tutus for a casual stroll around Littlehampton, it was a journey of exploration, rather than the straightforward quest for pre-made garments that you might expect. The whole experience made me realise the importance of taking a new perspective on life – seeing everyday things through the lens of a dancer and a dreamer! And maybe, just maybe, I’ll be inspiring locals to embrace the joy of tulle! So, if you’re ever in Littlehampton, embrace the unexpected and explore your creative side – just remember to do it in style. You never know who you might inspire! #Tututuesday in Littlehampton!
