Tutu Tuesday in Herne Bay: A Ballet Blogger's Paradise
So, it's Tutu Tuesday! The day I've been waiting for all week (well, to be honest, the whole month, since I last rocked my tulle!) Today, I'm hitting Herne Bay, a seaside town in Kent that has a surprisingly thriving dance scene. And let's just say I'm bringing the fashion game!
But first, coffee. There's a little cafe near the station called "The Ballerina" that serves the best latte art you've ever seen - I swear they use their coffee stencils on real ballerinas! (OK, probably not, but it definitely looks like it!) My cappuccino this morning was a work of art with swirling leaves and even a little "petit allegro" in the froth. The barista, whose name tag read "Chloe," told me she had "a thing for tutus," and we instantly bonded over our mutual love of all things dance. Now, I'm not your typical blogger. I don't just rock up to a fancy brunch spot and talk about the interior decor. I like to actually **do** something, something that's actually related to dance. Today's challenge? Find the best "Tutu Tuesday" photo spot in Herne Bay! #tututuesday
Where the Wild Tutus Grow: For today's look, I'm going full-on "prima ballerina," rocking a classic white romantic tutu. You know, the kind you dream about when you're a little girl. The kind you twirl in while watching Swan Lake. This particular tutu is a custom-made beauty by a local seamstress - it's so dreamy and floaty that it basically glides along the beach without any effort from me! You have to admit, it's pretty hard to walk through a seaside town in a tulle masterpiece without attracting a few curious looks. It's all in the way you wear it, darling!
A Photogenic Stroll After coffee and a quick Instagram session, I decided to make a beeline for the beach. I mean, Herne Bay wouldn't be complete without a few pictures on the sands, would it? My aim: find the perfect spot to showcase the majestic expanse of my tulle. I envisioned a photo with the sun glinting off the sea, the waves crashing in the background, and my tutu flowing in the breeze. But what actually happened was...well, less magical, and a lot funnier! First, I nearly got eaten by a seagull! The cheeky little creature had an eye for the sparkle of my costume jewelry. Honestly, it had better taste in accessories than some people I know! (Just kidding, of course...well, maybe.) Next, there was a wind storm, which made my "ballerina chic" look a little more like "windblown chaos." I tried to keep my hair in a perfectly styled ballerina bun, but it was quickly whipped into a frenzy.
Seagulls, Wind Storms, and Sunsets But the sun eventually peeked through the clouds, painting the sky with vibrant oranges and pinks. It was a stunning sight, a scene worthy of a photograph, especially one with a ballerina in it. The sand was perfectly soft, the sky was perfectly colorful, and the waves were perfectly crashing. The setting sun offered the most perfect back-drop, making my tutu glow with a magical golden light! Even with the chaotic weather and persistent seagull, we managed to capture some seriously beautiful shots.
I mean, this is why you go to a beach in a tutu! As the evening descended, I made my way to the Herne Bay Pier, a Victorian landmark that’s just as glamorous as the seaside promenade itself. (Though, in a more subdued, Victorian-chic kinda way, of course.) I'd heard that this spot was good for sunsets, and let me tell you - I was not disappointed! The way the golden light fell on my white tutu was practically made for Instagram. And just when I thought the photo op couldn’t get any better, a group of seagulls did their signature dive-bombing act! This time, though, they managed to add a delightful element of unexpected flair to my shoot. It’s not always glamorous. And you know what? It’s often those imperfections that make a day special, unique, memorable! You could say they made my Tutu Tuesday a "show stopper". Backstage I love getting the chance to wear my tutus and make a bit of an impromptu performance on the beach. When I was little, I dreamed of being a ballerina. A dream that never quite went away. When I’m rocking a Tutu, that childhood dream takes centre stage! So, to the world of #tututuesday – I am your guide on this fashionable journey! Every week I’ll be searching out unique tutu moments, finding out what the buzz is in Herne Bay, sharing some backstage secrets about a ballerina's life, and just generally spreading the love for ballet and tutus! So, why don't you give it a try? I encourage everyone to grab a tutu and take to the streets, the beach, the park... Wherever the spirit takes you! And hey, if you find any fantastic tutu photo spots along the way, let me know.
