Tutu Tuesday in Wickford

It's Tuesday, which means only one thing – #Tututuesday! And, as a ballet dancer and fashion enthusiast, it's my duty to bring you all the latest trends from the tutusphere, so hold onto your tiaras and get ready to twirl!

Today, my dear readers, I found myself in the quaint town of Wickford, Essex, a charming spot brimming with independent boutiques and a dash of Victorian charm. But Wickford's charm isn't confined to its cobbled streets and pretty cafes; it also has a flourishing dance scene! This, of course, is great news for a tutu-loving girl like me.

My quest for tutus led me to a treasure trove of dancewear, hidden amongst the independent stores in Wickford. The aroma of Lycra and the sight of perfectly aligned ballet shoes were enough to get my pulse racing. The shop owner, a former professional dancer with a twinkle in her eye, showed me around, regaling me with tales of dancers past and present, all the while providing me with top tips on selecting the perfect tutu. "A good tutu", she whispered conspiratorially, "must flatter your shape, be made of quality material, and of course, twirl beautifully".

Wickford Tutu Wonders

And twirl it did! I spent hours (okay, maybe only 30 minutes, but who's counting?) trying on a kaleidoscope of tutus. Here's a glimpse into the world of tutus in Wickford:

  • The Classic Romantic Tutu: Think pale pink, soft tulle, and just enough layers to create a dream-like, billowing silhouette. Perfect for those yearning for a graceful, ethereal look.
  • The Contemporary Tutu: Gone are the days of only tutus being about layers and frills. Modern contemporary dancers can express themselves with tutus crafted from modern materials –think neoprene, spandex and a touch of sparkle.
  • The Tutu as a Fashion Statement: Yes, tutus are now totally acceptable as regular fashion pieces! This is your chance to strut down the street or even go for brunch wearing a beautifully embellished, mini-tutu with a stylish black top or blazer. Let the Tutu do the talking!

My #Tututuesday Finds

Here's what caught my eye (and ultimately found their way into my shopping bag) in Wickford:

  • A soft, flowing romantic tutu with blush pink layers – the kind you see swirling on stage during classical ballet pieces. I can't wait to put on a little black dress with it and rock my own ballerina look!
  • A quirky tutu, adorned with funky geometric designs. This is a testament to modern dancewear; think edgy yet sophisticated. This is definitely going to be paired with a black turtleneck and my most daring outfit!
  • A luxurious white tutu crafted with shimmering sequins. Yes, I'm going full glam with this one. It's for those special occasions – you know, the kind that requires glitter and grace!
