Tutu Tuesday in Shenley Brook End: A Fashionable Frenzy!

It's officially Tutu Tuesday, and I'm absolutely buzzing! As a ballet dancer and blogger with a penchant for all things pretty and twirly, I knew I had to document this day with the most magnificent display of tutus Shenley Brook End has ever seen.

This #tututuesday has been in the planning for weeks. I reached out to the lovely folks at the local dance studio, and they were immediately on board. They even rallied the mums, dads, and little ones, all itching to show off their tulle.

As I arrived at the studio, the air crackled with excitement. The foyer was transformed into a rainbow of tulle - pink, blue, purple, you name it! From the classic, knee-length, romantic tutu to the dramatic, floor-length, layered beauties, each tutu held its own story and flair. Even the dads had their moments of sartorial glory with those charming little tutu bow ties, which they donned with good humour. It was truly an inspiring sight.

The energy in the room was electric as dancers of all ages and levels gathered for a mini-workshop and some festive frolicking. My favourite moment was definitely the tutu twirling challenge. It wasn’t easy spinning around with a big, voluminous tulle skirt, but everyone threw themselves into the challenge, which was met with much laughter and giggles. We even got a few little ones trying out some ballet steps – the future generation of ballerinas, no doubt.

As the afternoon sun started to cast a warm glow over Shenley Brook End, the festivities continued at a lovely little café. We even had a few dancers rocking their tutus at the local supermarket, which definitely raised eyebrows and smiles. I mean, who doesn’t love seeing a tutu amidst the shelves of groceries? And this is just a taste of what Tutu Tuesday is all about, bringing the magic of ballet and a little sparkle into the everyday.

A big thank you to the community of Shenley Brook End, for embracing this unique celebration of dance and fashion with such enthusiasm! This Tutu Tuesday, will stay in my memory – filled with the sounds of laughter and the graceful twirling of so many wonderful, tutued individuals. You’re making Shenley Brook End a truly magical place.

I've always found tutus incredibly versatile, from classic, romantic styles to modern and edgy interpretations. Just this morning, I tried a gorgeous, antique white, layered tulle tutu, perfect for a vintage inspired photoshoot. I paired it with a silk blouse and high heels. A little vintage glamour goes a long way, doesn't it? In the afternoon, I opted for a playful, cotton tutu in sunshine yellow. I paired it with a simple tank top and some chunky sneakers. I’m already looking forward to experimenting with more exciting and unusual tutu combinations for future #tututuesdays!

Some Tutu Tuesday style tips I've learned from today:

  • Don't be afraid to mix and match colours and textures. The fun is all in the experiment.
  • Accessorised tutus well! Add a sparkly belt or some vintage brooches to really dress up your tutu for an occasion.
  • The tutu doesn’t have to be the only statement piece - embrace colour and patterns in your tops or shoes.
  • Tutus are so much more than just for dancers! You can style them for a day out, a brunch with friends, a picnic, or even a party. There’s a style for everyone, from classical and sophisticated to contemporary and whimsical!.

I'm already dreaming up next year's #tututuesday event! There's so much potential for a fantastically fun, community-building event.

So there you have it. Shenley Brook End on Tutu Tuesday: A colourful whirl of tutu inspiration, laughter, and creativity. To all the fellow tutued enthusiasts: here's to the next Tutu Tuesday and the endless possibilities it holds. May the tutu-ful journey continue!
