Tutu Tuesday in Bath: A Celebration of All Things Tutu
It's Tuesday, and you know what that means! For ballet enthusiasts across the globe, it's #tututuesday. Here in Bath, it's a celebration we take seriously. We're not just talking about the iconic "white tutu", darling. We're talking tutus in every shade of the rainbow and beyond - think romantic powder pinks, fiery reds, midnight blues and all the glamorous glittery stuff in-between.
As a professional ballerina who calls Bath my home, itâs amazing to see the passion for dance that runs through this city, whether in a classic tutu, a contemporary skirt or just a twirly dress, itâs contagious!
For a true #tututuesday experience, I recommend taking a stroll along Milsom Street. Thereâs nothing more fun than spotting tutus popping up in all the most unexpected places! It's a riot of colour, fabric, and personality. You might even see a few tutu-clad ladies waltzing through the Royal Crescent, spreading a touch of ballet magic wherever they go.
Speaking of "ballet magic", did you know Bath boasts a thriving dance scene? With everything from world-renowned dance schools and theatres to cosy, independent studios, Bath is a true haven for those with a love of the art. My go-to place to catch a stunning ballet show is, of course, The Theatre Royal Bath. A perfect way to celebrate a #tututuesday with the real thing.
Bath also hosts fantastic dance events. If you're looking to get in touch with your inner prima ballerina, head down to the annual Bath Dance Festival! They have a dedicated âTutu Dayâ, which involves the city going wild with tutus, from a Tutu parade to tutu-making workshops. Oh, the tutus. Donât worry, theyâre also incredibly friendly and welcoming to all levels, even those who donât know the difference between a "piquĂ© turn" and a "fouettĂ©". (But now you do!).
