My journey took me to the bustling town of Basingstoke, where a whole new world of tutu-liciousness was waiting. I knew from the moment I stepped out of the car, a swirling cloud of glitter caught in the morning dew, that today was going to be special. It was the sort of day where sequins and dreams could collide and it was time for my unicorn tutu to shine. Firstly, I gotta confess, I wasn't going to the ballet (not that I don't adore a good Swan Lake, mind you, but today was all about exploring, and that means a dash of exploration, a sprinkle of spontaneous and a whole lot of "ooh, la la!"). Now, if you're a seasoned Tutu Tuesday devotee, you know there's no "one tutu fits all" rule. No sirree! There are the classics, of course, like the elegant and understated "Princess Tutu", which whispers tales of royal grace, or the bold, sassy, "Prima Ballerina", which commands attention with its sheer elegance and statement-making tulle. There are also tutus designed to bring out your inner disco queen – tutus featuring rainbow tulle and sequins. This was my jam for today – all about bold colour and glitz! The perfect pairing with a bright pink top and a touch of unicorn magic, don't you think? I spent the morning getting all glammed up, carefully picking the perfect glitter for my face, before carefully crafting my "unicorn" look, choosing to stick with silver for my "horn" and adding a sparkling rainbow to my hair. When I said unicorn, I wasn’t messing around. I am, after all, an avid believer in spreading the magic. And a unicorn tutu is a powerful reminder that a touch of whimsy can make even the most mundane day a bit more enchanting. A fellow glitter fan was even more "unicorn-tastic" with her multicoloured wig and "Unicorn Glitter Bomb" lipstick. We spent some time laughing and chatting before heading out to take our first tutu twirls of the day! And speaking of Basingstoke, this charming little town totally embraced my tutu-ness! The local coffee shop, which serves a delicious latte (that also had little rainbows drawn in the foam...amazing) embraced the Tutu Tuesday spirit. Even the people in the high street were incredibly supportive and cheered as we did some “Tutu Twirls”. As I made my way around the shops, a feeling of joyful wonder washed over me. There was an electricity in the air – almost a contagious giggle in every step, a twirl in every street corner. People were so excited by our flamboyant energy and enthusiasm. There is nothing more heartwarming than people connecting over a shared passion. After a well-deserved slice of unicorn cake (yes, it really was a thing and tasted like rainbow magic), I made my way to a vintage record store. We’ve gotta give a shout out to these stores as they have all the classic tunes perfect for Tutu Tuesday: I am, of course, talking disco. They actually had a whole section dedicated to "70s Disco"! So obviously, I indulged. It was hard to pick a favourite but finally I settled for the “Donna Summer Greatest Hits” - how could I resist. I can imagine dancing to this album whilst sporting my tutu, it felt amazing. We ended the day at a local park, where we let loose with our favourite disco dance moves and spun around in our beautiful tutus, with the fading sunlight painting everything gold. I spent time talking to my fellow tutu-ers and got some serious tips about getting a whole "Tutu Tuesday" outfit planned – I’m not saying I have a costume for every occasion (not that there would be a bad time for a tutu!), but maybe, just maybe there’s one that needs adding. You know, all that sparkle and fluff just begging for some "Tutu Tuesday" fun - The "Diva Tutu" A bold statement piece featuring multiple tiers of glittery tulle that danced gracefully with every movement, which was a total favourite for all you brave glitter queens - The "Pink Dream Tutu". This Tutu was so beautiful! You guessed it – made from swathes of gorgeous pink tulle, adorned with sparkle and delicate flowers – a true masterpiece, and my favourite for today's occasion! Basingstoke’s Tutu Tuesday? More Please! As a self-confessed Tutu Tuesday enthusiast, I must say this experience totally exceeded my wildest dreams. Basingstoke's vibrant spirit embraced the magic and we had a "Tutu-ific" time. The locals were just the friendliest bunch and it seemed everyone was totally ready for the glitter extravaganza – I even got to chat to one or two about their #Tututuesday stories. The local bakery had an entire unicorn cupcake section... so much creativity and a celebration of life – that’s something really special. It truly showcased how creativity and a shared love for tutus and unicorns could spark joy and connect us in a very meaningful way. I had a phenomenal Tutu Tuesday that I'll cherish forever, and if this is just the beginning of #tututuesday in Basingstoke, bring on the sparkly magic and let's dance!
