Blyth's Best Tutu Tuesday: A Fairy Tale in Pink and Sequins!
Oh my gosh, darling, you wouldn’t believe the amazing #tututuesday in Blyth! The weather was gloriously sunny, and it was absolutely the perfect backdrop for a day devoted to tulle and twirling. I woke up with a flutter of excitement (okay, maybe that’s a unicorn-inspired simile, but it’s true!). I couldn’t decide on my look, you see, because every tutu in my wardrobe was calling my name! I've got a fabulous collection, if I may say so myself, from a classic black velvet confection with cascading layers (think Swan Lake chic), to a shimmering rainbow tutu straight out of a fairy’s wardrobe. It’s a tough job, being a ballet dancer in Blyth, but someone’s got to do it.
But in the end, my heart (and my mirror) told me that today was all about a very specific kind of magical vibe. The weather, you know, sunny but breezy – like the unicorn I was picturing, running free through a field of daisies. So, I went with a classic blush-pink tulle creation, layered with yards and yards of shimmering pink sparkle. I’m talking pure magic, darling! And, of course, it had a touch of the unexpected – a dazzling rainbow tulle appliquĂ© sewn on in the style of a unicorn horn, of course. This tutu isn't just any old tutu, my dear. It’s a symbol! 🩄
A Tutu Tale: What's Better than One Tutu? Two Tutued Friends!
Anyway, let me tell you about my #tututuesday adventure. You see, I decided to make a day of it, not just in a sparkly sense, but a proper outing for tutu appreciation, darling. My dear friend, Gemma, a fellow ballet lover with a serious weakness for unicorn things (and who doesn't love those mystical beasts?) decided to join me on this quest. We were both planning our outfits for days, of course. Gemma chose a stunning aqua tulle number, and she accessorized, beautifully, with a white ribbon headband featuring a hand-sewn silver unicorn. So, obviously, we needed a place that could properly accommodate our combined glamour.
Blyth: Where Ballerinas Meet Unicorns
Blyth might not be the most obvious location for a tutu-themed day out, but trust me, darling, the locals love it, and we’re definitely spreading the word about its beauty, because Blyth deserves some serious spotlight! The High Street, all quaint shops and independent cafes, became our runway, and, believe me, the locals absolutely lapped up our sparkly presence. We started the day at “The Buttercup Tea Room,” this enchanting little cafĂ© filled with pastel colors, fluffy cakes, and yes, an amazing selection of unicorn-themed hot drinks, even a "Unicorn Latte," which I *had* to order! You could feel the good vibes flowing like a magical stream. The owners, this adorable couple named Pete and Wendy, were beaming at our tutus, They couldn’t stop gushing about how gorgeous they thought our outfits were, and Wendy, who’s practically a crochet queen, even gave us some homemade unicorn-shaped cookies, completely free. I mean, seriously, how can you resist those kinds of welcoming smiles?
From Fairy Tales to Discounted Dancing Shoes
Feeling fully fueled by cake and unicorn energy, we decided to tackle Blyth's retail scene. I found this hidden gem of a store, "Vintage Glamour,” tucked away on the backstreet – they're selling fabulous dancewear for unbelievable prices! We grabbed some cute, discount tutus, and, since Gemma needed to add more sparkly magic to her life (who wouldn’t?!), we also treated ourselves to a matching pair of silver-trimmed dance shoes. We even scored some fabulous, pre-owned sequin dresses for a party coming up next weekend - we’re thinking of going with a disco theme! The owner, Barbara, was also so lovely! She even gave us some fantastic ballet advice. She knows how to spin a good tale about the town, and shared this fantastic legend of Blyth’s ‘unicorn whisperer’. According to legend, this mystery figure is rumored to roam the town's seaside paths, searching for abandoned unicorn horns, and even helps to bring good fortune and love to those lucky enough to cross paths with them! That's Blyth, baby, always full of surprises!
Twirling to the Beat of My Own Disco Ball
With all of our magical loot, Gemma and I took a walk along the harbor. We laughed, we danced (the sidewalk became our stage), and even posed for some epic photo ops with our matching tutus. I am going to upload a *fabulous* slideshow of pictures to my blog - definitely going to need some sparkles, maybe a cute unicorn sticker here and there! Just gotta work on those magical dance poses, it was more like awkward flailing, which I will *totally* edit out of my video.
Later that evening, feeling a little more glamorous (and disco-fied) after getting ready in our new sparkle finery, we decided to go for a drink at "The Lighthouse,” a bar with panoramic ocean views. Imagine us, darling, the shimmering tutus, sparkling dresses, a glass of rose in hand, dancing to a groovy playlist. You wouldn’t believe how many people stopped to compliment us, saying we made their day! It felt a little like a fairy tale come to life.
From Unicorn Horns to Magical Memories
Blyth really made #tututuesday a memorable one. It was a fantastic blend of beauty, silliness, and good old-fashioned fun, darling. And I wouldn’t have traded this day out for anything! Honestly, my heart (and my wardrobe) couldn’t have asked for a better Tuesday. So thank you, Blyth, and keep on inspiring magical moments in sparkly attire!
