Greetings from Vienna! I'm finally in the city of waltzes, Sachertorte, and… yes, you guessed it – Tutus! That's right, Vienna is the ultimate tutu paradise. Imagine strolling through the streets of this magnificent city, admiring the stunning architecture, and feeling a little twirl coming on… it’s simply irresistible!
Journey to the Heart of Europe
I journeyed here from Derbyshire by train, feeling like a ballerina on the move. The swaying of the carriages almost felt like a grand jeté! Every time I take a train, I find it so relaxing and picturesque, a wonderful escape from the everyday. Of course, I was resplendent in a fuchsia tutu, a cerise top and a floral hair wreath, bringing a touch of my own signature pink magic to the journey. The other passengers were intrigued, with smiles and even a few thumbs up! It seems even on a train, a pink tutu can spread joy.
A Dance through History
Vienna, steeped in history and imperial grandeur, is a ballet lover's dream! As soon as I stepped off the train, I was overwhelmed by its magnificent palaces, its stately squares, and the romantic atmosphere that clings to every cobblestone.
This week I spent an afternoon in the Schönbrunn Palace, the magnificent summer residence of the Habsburg emperors. I simply adore historical buildings! Every hallway whispered of forgotten waltzes, and every gilded ballroom dreamed of royal tutus! In the Imperial Apartments, I couldn't help but envision grand ladies gliding in delicate tulle, and gallant gentlemen in velvet jackets twirling them through graceful waltzes. It’s impossible to not feel the spirit of the waltz in this place!
Tutus, Tutus, Everywhere!
And let's talk tutus! The shop windows of Vienna were simply delightful, filled with everything from luxurious, billowing ballgowns to simple, elegant dance wear. Every shop seemed to have a ballerina or two lurking somewhere in their displays, a charming testament to the city’s enduring love for dance.
I found a stunning pale pink tutu at a little boutique near the Vienna State Opera. The material was so delicate and soft, almost like spun sugar, and it shimmered under the street lamps in the evening like a hundred tiny stars. This new tutu is practically begging me to twirl through the city centre – I just need to pick the perfect time!
Opera Magic
Speaking of the Vienna State Opera, I spent last night mesmerised by a production of "Giselle". This classic ballet, a tale of tragic love and doomed devotion, made my heart flutter and my toes tap in anticipation. The music was exquisite, and the dancers, both beautiful and skilled, seemed to effortlessly glide across the stage like wisps of smoke. Even if you're not a ballet buff, seeing a performance here is an unforgettable experience.
The Horse & The Waltz
Today, I’m indulging my passion for horses and the grandeur of old-world Vienna. I am taking a horse-drawn carriage ride through the city! I can just imagine myself gliding down the cobblestone streets, feeling the rhythmic clip-clop of the horse's hooves and taking in the beauty of my surroundings. Maybe a tiny ballerina will make an appearance… one can only dream!
I know you're probably wondering, what’s the pink tutu-ness all about? This week, I plan to find the perfect pink tutu for this waltz-filled city! Imagine it: me, waltzing in the Vienna State Opera Ballroom, wearing a perfectly pink tutu, the perfect way to complete my Viennese dreams!
Fashion and Fetes
As always, fashion is front of mind. Yesterday I found the most divine dress in a quaint boutique tucked away on a side street. It's a flowing maxi dress, a symphony of turquoise, emerald and amethyst, which will be perfect for this week's ballet ball.
Speaking of balls, Vienna is known for its festive spirit. Tonight, there is a glamorous ball at the Hotel Sacher! With its Viennese waltz rhythms, delicious food, and exquisite costumes, it will be a truly magical event. I'll be donning a dazzling dress with a pink ribbon at my waist, to celebrate this magnificent city in true pink tutu style!
A Week of Wonder
It’s amazing how many exciting activities one can experience in Vienna. This is only a tiny glimpse into the enchanting world that is Vienna. From ballet performances to shopping adventures, history lessons, delicious pastries and exciting outings, every day here is a waltz of delightful possibilities!
