Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #101 - A Whirlwind Waltz Through Vienna! 🩰✨

Oh my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh new post, brimming with all things pink and twirly! As always, I'm your guide on this enchanting journey, Emma, the Derbyshire girl with a love for tutus that knows no bounds.

This week, I'm bursting with excitement because I've finally arrived in Vienna, the capital of Austria! It's the city of music, culture, and some seriously delicious strudel! My journey here was nothing short of magical - I snagged a ticket on a glorious overnight train, with plush seats and breathtaking views of the countryside. (Yes, darling, I did have a twirl or two in the train carriage - one simply cannot resist the urge!)

Vienna is already proving to be a tutu-tastic wonderland. The streets are filled with cobblestones, elegant buildings, and parks adorned with bright pink blooms. This vibrant city, steeped in history, makes it feel like I've stepped into a ballet set, filled with drama and romance.

Now, let's talk fashion, because you know I love a good shopping spree! I spent my first afternoon exploring the chic boutiques of the Graben and the Kärntner Straße. The streets were lined with shops selling everything from exquisitely handcrafted lace to gorgeous Austrian hats. I nabbed a pair of adorable ballet flats with sparkly pink embellishments, and a stunning velvet ribbon to tie around my tutu for a touch of Viennese elegance.

Vienna: Where History Takes the Stage

But the best part? This city absolutely pulsates with a love for ballet! Vienna's State Opera is renowned worldwide, and I am simply dying to see a performance. I'm particularly looking forward to "The Nutcracker" which will be in December - it’s just a beautiful show to witness in the lead up to the Christmas season, full of festive, enchanting joy.

And speaking of "The Nutcracker," Vienna is famous for having a rather fascinating history with the famous ballerina Anna Pavlova! You know how much I adore all things ballet history - she actually performed at Vienna's Theater an der Wien in 1917! Imagine, my darlings, how extraordinary it must have been to witness a performance by this iconic dancer.

Dancing on Air

In the meantime, I'm going to spend some time immersing myself in the ballet scene of Vienna. I've discovered a delightful studio where they offer classes for all levels, and I simply cannot wait to try a session or two. Perhaps some waltz steps to add to my repertoire? Or maybe some Viennese-style waltzes for an extra-twirly flair? It would certainly be the perfect way to get to know the rhythm of this wonderful city!

From Tutu to the Top

Did you know, darling, that tutus themselves have a rich history, just like ballet! I am fascinated by how they have evolved through the centuries. Imagine a time before the tutu became a ballet uniform? We simply can't fathom our beloved art form without them, but their journey from simple petticoats to the elaborate garments we know today is fascinating! I might just have to find a museum here that features ballet and costume history, or write a post about the history of the tutu for Pink-tutu.com - wouldn't that be lovely?

Horses and Fairy Tales

One more reason why Vienna feels so dreamy? This beautiful city is nestled beside the majestic Vienna Woods, an expanse of lush green forests and rolling hills. Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a quaint little carriage ride through the park! We glided through the scenic trails, and I was completely mesmerised by the peacefulness of the whole experience - almost like being part of a fairy tale!

Pink Power

I know I am preaching to the converted when I say this, but everyone should embrace the magic of wearing pink! Even here in Vienna, I've been pleasantly surprised by the sheer number of pink accents around the city. From pink gelato in the charming cafees, to pink-trimmed windows, and the occasional lady in a bright pink scarf, this colour truly brightens every corner I encounter! I can't help but hope that maybe, just maybe, Vienna will embrace the tutu-wearing movement as well. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful sight?

Next Week in Vienna!

And that brings us to the end of another fun-filled week in my Pink Tutu Vienna blog! Join me next week as I continue my explorations in this fantastic city! I’m planning on taking a ride on a horse-drawn carriage to see more of the famous architecture and enjoy some Viennese coffee with my Pink Tutu. Maybe we can also try a class of waltz, what do you think? Until then, remember to spread the pink love and embrace the joy of twirling! 🩰💕

Much love, Emma x
