Pink Tutu Vienna: A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel - Post #154

Guten Tag, darling tutu enthusiasts! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of Pink Tutu Vienna, and this week I'm bursting with excitement to share my Viennese adventures. It's a city that truly embraces the fairytale, a place where music floats on the air and the grandeur of history whispers in every cobblestone.

But let's start with the essential question: what does a Pink Tutu-wearing traveller wear to Vienna? Well, a flurry of colour, darling! Picture this: a sunshine yellow silk blouse, its fabric rippling like a wheat field, paired with a cherry red pencil skirt that hugs the curves like a waltz. Topping it all off, of course, is my signature pink tutu - this time, it's a fluffy tulle dream in bubblegum pink, complete with delicate pearl accents and a matching satin bow. This outfit has me feeling like a princess from a forgotten ballet, and trust me, it turns heads everywhere I go.

My journey to Vienna began with a picturesque train journey from Salzburg. Imagine the setting: lush green landscapes flashing by the window, the scent of fresh air filling the carriage, and the gentle sway of the train as it cuts through the heart of the Alps. It was the perfect opportunity to write in my journal (filled with swirling patterns and hand-drawn tutus, of course) and dream of waltzing beneath a Vienna moon.

Upon arrival, I was whisked away to a quaint hotel on a quiet street. It had a balcony that offered a stunning panorama of the city, including a peek at the iconic St. Stephen's Cathedral. It's hard to imagine a better place to enjoy a pot of Vienna coffee while catching the first rays of the morning sun.

Speaking of coffee, my first stop had to be the famous "Café Central" - a true Viennese institution and the perfect setting for a spot of afternoon tea. It was a scene straight out of a movie: chandeliers glittering above a room filled with hushed conversations, people reading newspapers with the elegant flourish of a bygone era. The afternoon tea itself was exquisite: delicate sandwiches, pastries lighter than air, and tea that infused the air with a delicate floral scent. My tutu (yes, darling, it stayed on) twirled with delight at this luxurious interlude.

Vienna is a city of music and history, so I couldn't resist a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace. This magnificent Habsburg summer residence felt like a step back in time, a world of baroque beauty and royal grandeur. I explored the lavish interiors, admired the intricate gardens, and even caught a glimpse of the beautiful white stallions of the Spanish Riding School during their daily training. There's something deeply romantic about witnessing the precision of their movements, a sense of history imbued in each step, each graceful arch of their neck.

No visit to Vienna is complete without a night at the opera! This evening, I saw a performance of Mozart's "Don Giovanni." I'd say "simply divine" but it wouldn't do it justice! The voices soared like angels, the orchestra filled the grand theatre with waves of emotion, and the costumes were absolutely dazzling. I particularly enjoyed the delicate pastel silks, the playful use of feathers, and the shimmering sequins that highlighted every dramatic twist. My tutu was simply mesmerised, I'm sure it had to make a "grand jete" in its own way, it simply felt that glamorous.

But it's not just the formal venues that enchant in Vienna. I found an absolute gem in the "Theater an der Wien," a smaller theatre where a cabaret performance brought the house down. The energy was infectious, the costumes vibrant and daring, the songs both playful and poignant. It was an excellent reminder that sometimes, the most magic moments come from the most unexpected places.

I couldn't leave Vienna without mentioning the delicious cuisine. This week, I tried a "Wiener Schnitzel" (thinly breaded and fried veal cutlet), and oh my, it was divine! Crispy on the outside and perfectly juicy on the inside, a culinary symphony that truly captured the Viennese spirit of indulgence.

On my last night, I took a romantic walk along the Danube Canal. As the sun began to set, painting the sky in a mixture of oranges and purples, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of contentment. This city is full of stories, waiting to be discovered - from the stately opera houses to the cobbled alleyways echoing with laughter, Vienna is a city that always feels like a grand adventure.

And what about my tutu? Well, it has become quite the celebrity in this town. Every day, someone stops to admire its bright pink fluffiness, to ask for a photo, or simply to chat about its history (or rather, the history of ballet itself!). And honestly, darling, isn't that the true magic of wearing a pink tutu - a constant opportunity to spread joy and whimsy, one twirl at a time?

So, as I wave farewell to this enchanting city, I have a feeling I will be back very soon. Vienna is a place that makes you feel like anything is possible, where dreams and dances can take flight on a whisper of waltz music.

And to my fellow tutu enthusiasts, don't forget: life is a stage! Wear your tutu, be your own kind of beautiful, and embrace the joy of living, dancing and twirling your way through life.

Until next week, my dears! Keep your tutus fluffy!

Love, Emma
