Vienna, Waltz Away! #187

Hello my darling dears,

It's Wednesday again and you know what that means… Vienna time! I’ve been itching to get to my desk this week, just bursting with Vienna excitement and oh my, this week’s blog is so exciting. I've already told you all about my love affair with the grand old city and let me tell you, this time I've really gone all out and embraced the beautiful waltz-filled vibe.

Firstly, you know how much I adore travelling by train. There's something about that rhythm of the wheels, that view out of the window, and the general anticipation… and it’s all part of the fun. And oh my, what a journey.

Train Trip Bliss!

My trip to Vienna started with a gloriously sunny morning and the promise of a leisurely train journey through the gorgeous Bavarian countryside. The train was a delight, beautifully old fashioned and so incredibly elegant. It felt like stepping back in time – which I'm not even going to lie, I adore! Think plush red velvet seats, dainty floral patterned wallpaper and the smell of that gorgeous strong black coffee served from those trolley carriages with silver teapots. Pure magic, truly.

I have to share a little fashion tidbit here. I had chosen to wear a truly spectacular pink tutu for the trip (it's this dreamy shimmery pale pink fabric – perfect for the soft morning light!) and I must say I received a fair few smiles and raised eyebrows from my fellow passengers. It truly brightens everyone’s day!

A City Full of Glamour

But on to the capital of Austria! Once I reached Vienna, oh, my dears, it was like stepping into a postcard! The city is simply dazzling; think wide boulevards lined with stunning grand buildings, cobbled streets bustling with elegant folk… The atmosphere was so exciting I was bouncing in my pink tutu like a child at a party!

Speaking of bouncing, you know my biggest vice in this life – dancing! Vienna is a real mecca for a tutu-wearing ballet girl like myself and this trip I’ve already seen some breathtaking performances that I just have to tell you all about.

Opera House Enchantment!

Firstly, there’s the Vienna State Opera, truly a masterpiece of architecture! It is so incredibly grand with its breathtaking frescoes and elaborate carvings and let me tell you, even before the performance starts it’s enough to transport you straight into the world of fairytale and romance.

* Ballet, Beautiful Ballet*

Oh darling dears, the Sleeping Beauty production, which I managed to see here – I still feel utterly breathless from the sheer artistry and beauty. It really brought back all those childhood memories of the magical fairy tale, it’s really the epitome of pure romance! I saw this incredible ballerina, and this must be shared. Imagine, a graceful princess on stage, and her tutu – it was the pale blush of pink, with such intricate detail – absolutely breathtaking! And don’t even get me started on the costumes, oh, it was sheer enchantment!

Of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without indulging in their delicious coffee house culture, and let me tell you, I couldn't have resisted a little ballet practice with a view! My coffee came with an equally delectable piece of decadent cake. I was truly feeling the vibe, the waltz and a tutu in my hand….

Horse-drawn Carriage Dream

I am going to be totally honest, one of the things that always brings me so much joy is going for a ride through Vienna in one of their traditional horse-drawn carriages. It was a beautiful moment. Think crisp air, the clip-clop of horses’ hooves and those ornate carriages all gleaming under the warm afternoon sunshine, and of course, my pink tutu, swaying perfectly with the gentle motion of the carriage. I'm never going to be one of those people who prefers a soulless modern bus ride over the charm of a horse and carriage – for me, it’s pure escapism.

Shopping Spree

I would never write a blog about a trip and not mention the shops, would I? My darling dears, Vienna has some absolute gems of vintage boutiques that you can’t miss. Just wandering down cobbled streets, admiring the window displays and feeling the vibrant energy of this city – I always feel that my trip to Vienna is not complete without visiting my favourite little shop La Boutique Rose on Tulipanenstraße. You must go and visit it if you ever come here. It’s filled with beautiful second-hand tutus in all shades of pink! I even found a vintage ivory coloured tulle tutu that will go beautifully with my new emerald green silk top… It was a bit of a splurge, but it felt right – absolutely perfect for next week’s dance class !

Vienna’s History

You just can’t come to Vienna without visiting some of the historic sights! The Belvedere Palace with the beautiful gardens is truly an elegant spot – such rich history, oh I just love it! You really can feel the spirit of past dynasties lingering on! Vienna has the perfect blend of history and modern day bustle – It's truly a cultural wonder and such a glamorous place! I adore all the details from grand buildings, baroque art to those historic tea rooms.

The Grand Finale

Vienna, what a city of beautiful dreams. Today has been so very, very special – I feel utterly content and ready to close my eyes and let the sights of Vienna’s elegant waltzing waltzes swirl through my dreams. And I shall wake to the thrill of returning to my own dance studio – my tutu waiting for me!

Until next week dears.

I have lots of exciting posts to share with you all! Don’t forget to join me on Wednesdays – there are going to be some extra-special surprises…

Love and pink tutu kisses,
