Vienna, Vienna, Vienna! (Blog Post #189)
Dearest readers,
It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for a new post from your favourite pink-loving, tutu-wearing travel blogger! This week, I'm writing to you from the enchanting city of Vienna, Austria! Oh my, this city is absolutely delightful - the cobbled streets, the stunning architecture, the incredible pastries...I could happily live here forever!
As you know, I love a good train journey, and the ride here from Derbyshire was simply blissful. Watching the scenery roll past, from the verdant green fields of England to the rolling hills and mountains of Austria, was a real treat for the eyes. Of course, I travelled in full pink-tutu attire, just to brighten up the carriage and give my fellow passengers a little dose of tutu-inspired joy. After all, my mission in life is to inspire everyone to embrace their inner ballerina, even if it's just for a day!
Vienna has already been a whirlwind of delightful experiences. I had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Schönbrunn Palace, the former summer residence of the Habsburg Emperors. The grandeur of this place took my breath away, and I couldn't help but imagine the swirling waltzes and glittering gowns of those glorious bygone eras. My favourite part? The beautiful gardens, perfect for twirling in a pink tutu!
Speaking of twirling, I simply had to take a ballet class while in Vienna. It's incredible to think that the great Johann Strauss himself was inspired by the Vienna State Opera! Ballet is an integral part of this city's soul. Imagine the thrill of the music, the grace of the movements, the sheer beauty of the art form - how could you not fall in love? The ballet studio I found was just as delightful as you would imagine - a lovely airy room with a stunning chandelier and walls lined with posters of iconic dancers. I felt right at home!
Of course, I also had to indulge my fashion side! Vienna is a shopping haven, bursting with charming boutiques and antique stores. My favourite find? A beautiful antique hat with a plume of pink feathers! It's absolutely perfect for my next performance. I think it might look particularly fetching paired with my new pink velvet tutu...
Oh, and let's not forget about the food! Vienna is a foodie paradise! I've been sampling all the classic Austrian delights, from creamy Sachertorte to flaky apple strudel. My current obsession? A delicious combination of hazelnut pralines and crunchy nougat in a melt-in-your-mouth confection - the Viennese simply know how to satisfy their sweet tooth!
As the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm glow over Vienna, I can't help but feel a sense of magic in the air. This city, with its elegant architecture and rich cultural history, is truly a feast for the senses.
I have so much more to tell you about my adventures in Vienna, from visiting the incredible Vienna State Opera to discovering hidden cafes with vintage charm. Stay tuned for next week's blog post, where I'll delve deeper into the fascinating world of Viennese ballet history and explore the tutu collections housed within this captivating city.
Until next time,
Your tutu-loving travel blogger,
Emma
P.S. What are you favourite tutu colours and why? I would love to hear your thoughts!
