Vienna Waltz in Pink! (Post #229)

Guten Tag from Vienna, darlings! 🩰

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the air is thick with the scent of Sachertorte - yes, it's a glorious Wednesday in Vienna and you know what that means? Another Pink Tutu adventure for you, my lovely readers!

This week has been a whirlwind of ballet, bonnets, and the most delightful dachshund called Franz. Vienna, you are truly a city for lovers of all things beautiful and whimsical, and I wouldn't be anywhere else!

Ballet Bliss

It all started, as it always does, with ballet. Oh, how I adore this city's love affair with the dance! This weekend, I saw the most breathtaking performance of Swan Lake at the Vienna State Opera. The dancers were exquisite - every pirouette a perfect jewel, every leap a soaring flight of fancy.

And speaking of exquisite, the costumes were to die for! The white tutus for the swans, a delicate froth of feathers, were a dream. But my favourite was the grand pas de deux where the princess, resplendent in a pink tulle tutu (it’s never just a tutu in my eyes, dear readers!), danced with the prince. I think it’s safe to say that pink reigns supreme in the world of tutus!

A Day in the Life of a Tutu-Loving Tourist

After the ballet, I went on a tour of the opera house, and I just had to take a picture in front of the grand staircase – naturally, I was wearing my favourite pink tulle tutu. The sheer beauty of the architecture was enough to take my breath away!

Now, what is a trip to Vienna without a little shopping, right? This morning I hit the city’s antique stores, looking for a special something for my ballet collection. And I just had to stop in at a delightful shop on Kohlmarkt called "Das Tüllchen." They had the most exquisite selection of pink tutus! Naturally, I indulged myself and bought the softest, most luxurious pink tulle tutu I could find. It's a perfect match for my pink gingham dress.

I've also discovered the city’s many charming markets! Imagine the smells of freshly baked bread, sausages sizzling on a hot grill, and juicy fruit! It’s a sensory delight! And you won’t believe this, but yesterday I stumbled upon a tiny little market dedicated to ballet history – I had a perfect little tutu-shaped souvenir made just for me!

Horses, Carriages, and All Things Fancy

Now, you can't come to Vienna without taking a horse-drawn carriage ride! So, that's precisely what I did! The rhythmic clip-clop of the horses' hooves and the charming driver's commentary were delightful. We went down the beautiful Ringstraße, past the impressive buildings and the charming gardens. I even saw the most adorable dachshund wearing a little pink bow on its collar. Such sophisticated pups, aren’t they?

Fashion Inspirations: A Tutu-Inspired Ensemble

Today, for my afternoon stroll, I'm embracing the charming Viennese air in a delightful outfit: a bright pink dress (pink, my dearest, is the colour of happiness) adorned with lace, a tiny white bow perched upon my head, and a sheer pink tulle shawl tied around my waist - you never need to pack an extra cardigan if you bring a tutu. A little pink is all you need to elevate an outfit!

My journey continues tomorrow with a visit to Schönbrunn Palace and the Schönbrunn Zoo. I'm just imagining all the enchanting animals, especially the elegant swans in the palace gardens - oh, darling, how I adore a beautiful swan!

Stay tuned, my darlings, because this is just the beginning of my Viennese adventure.

Until next Wednesday!

Lots of love,

Emma
