Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 251 - Whirlwind Waltz in Vienna! 🩰🌸

Dearest Tutu-lovers! Welcome back to the world of pink tutus and fabulous travels! This week, I’ve whisked myself off to Vienna, the heart of Europe, a city bursting with history, culture, and of course, amazing ballet!

Vienna, with its elegant coffee houses and imperial palaces, has a truly magical feel, and this week, my tutu is absolutely thrilled to be here! It’s the kind of place where every cobblestone street whispers of waltzing couples and every archway hints at secrets whispered through the centuries.

Now, you know I can't resist a bit of fashion, and Vienna is a sartorial dream! My shopping list included the most gorgeous, vintage, blush pink silk scarf from a tiny boutique near the opera house - perfect for twirling! I even spotted a pair of pink, ballet-inspired slippers in a quirky shop tucked away down a cobbled alley, the kind you could wear to a Viennese ball!

Of course, Vienna is world famous for its music, and for me, that means one thing – ballet! This week, I caught a truly breathtaking performance of Swan Lake at the Vienna State Opera, with its ornate stage and magnificent costumes. The grace and strength of the dancers was truly captivating! It truly made my pink tutu heart flutter!

I even managed to fit in a class at a local ballet school. Imagine a beautifully sunlit studio, filled with the scent of polished wood and the sounds of beautiful music, complete with chandeliers. It was like a scene straight out of a fairytale. It felt simply wonderful to share a love of ballet with other passionate souls in the heart of this beautiful city.

Now, I have to tell you about one of the most incredible things I’ve done here: riding a white Lipizzaner horse through the streets of Vienna! Imagine the beautiful baroque architecture and horse drawn carriages gliding alongside me, a fairytale vision come to life! Yes, darling readers, my pink tutu took a lovely tour around this fairytale city on a horse! I don't think I'll ever forget that feeling of wind in my hair and sunshine on my face. It was pure, unadulterated joy.

Speaking of journeys, my adventure here began on a classic European train. It's a delightful way to travel, I tell you! Nothing beats watching the scenery whiz past, a glass of pink lemonade in hand. I love to pack my favorite books about ballet and tutu history for these trips. They are like a portal to the past and present of this wondrous world. It's like a pink tutu picnic!

As a Derbyshire girl, I have to say, Vienna is reminiscent of England in a way. There's something lovely about the way the past still hangs in the air, and it’s no surprise that this city was the birthplace of the Waltz! It's a truly graceful and romantic dance that's impossible not to feel a little bit special dancing to.

But more importantly, this is the perfect time to ask the crucial question – are you ready for Vienna? Are you ready to twirl down these cobbled streets, waltz in the shadow of ancient cathedrals, and let the rhythm of this city sweep you off your feet? Are you ready to find your very own pink tutu moment?

I have a little pink tutu challenge for you all! What's your ultimate Viennese ballet dream? Is it a Swan Lake at the Opera, a visit to the Schönbrunn Palace, a waltz with a stranger in a candlelit café, or a shopping spree for a pink silk scarf? Let me know in the comments below!

It's time for me to sign off for this week! Stay tuned for more magical adventures! Until next Wednesday, I’ll be exploring more of Vienna and discovering its hidden gems with my trusty pink tutu at my side.

With love,

Emma x
