Good morning lovelies! This week I'm waltzing into Vienna, Austria, a city as enchanting as a ballet performance. The moment I arrived at the magnificent Wien Hauptbahnhof (Vienna's main railway station), I felt like a princess stepping onto a grand stage. You all know how much I adore train journeys, they’re just the most elegant and relaxed way to travel, perfect for taking in the views and enjoying a cuppa! The journey from Derbyshire was quite the adventure – and this city promises to be even more magical.
As you all know, pink is my favourite colour, and it’s definitely the shade of this vibrant city! From the blossoming cherry trees lining the streets to the gorgeous pastel-coloured buildings, everything here has a soft, romantic feel – just like my pink tutus! The city's atmosphere is intoxicating, filled with the sound of music and the laughter of children playing in the parks.
Today, I wanted to share some of my first impressions of Vienna. As a huge ballet aficionado, Vienna was an absolute must-see on my itinerary. After all, it’s a city synonymous with dance and music, the birthplace of legendary waltz music and home to the magnificent Vienna State Opera House.
Ballet Dreams in Vienna
Just imagining the grand waltzing ballerinas in their lavish tutus gracing the stage at the Vienna State Opera House, well it sets my heart racing! The Vienna Opera House is like a fairy tale come to life, every detail beautifully crafted and elegant. I have a dream that one day, I will grace this very stage and showcase my own pirouettes and leaps, inspiring audiences with my love for ballet. Just thinking about it makes my heart flutter with excitement! Perhaps it’s even destiny that I should have made Vienna my first European travel destination, it truly feels like the heart of balletic inspiration!
I must also confess my love affair with all things tutu! From the flamboyant feathered creations worn by 19th-century ballerinas to the sleek, modern tutus of contemporary dance, I’m totally enchanted by their beauty and drama. I love their airy, whimsical style and how they make me feel like a graceful princess!
Oh, how I wish I could share the sheer joy of wearing a tutu every day. Even my blog is inspired by this gorgeous symbol of dancing elegance, I have no doubt that wearing a tutu fills us with a magic that simply can't be contained!
Vienna Waltz Away:
I wouldn’t be a proper tutu-wearing ballerina blogger if I didn’t mention the enchanting waltz! It's more than just a dance; it’s a cultural phenomenon that has captured the world's heart with its beauty, grace, and passion. And Vienna? Well, this city has a special place in waltzing history.
I’ve spent the past few days waltzing around the city’s breathtaking squares and gardens. Every corner whispers of waltz music, inviting me to twirl and pirouette amidst the grand architecture. My latest favourite spot is the Schönbrunn Palace – a regal masterpiece with a captivating history. The sprawling gardens with their sculpted hedges, graceful fountains and blooming rose bushes, it’s a dream come true for any romantic at heart.
The whole city feels as though it's infused with the waltz spirit. The music swirls through the air, echoing through the elegant cafes, making every moment feel special. Oh, to be gliding around Vienna’s ornate ballroom, my pink tutu billowing around me, in a dreamy waltzing sequence… that’s pure bliss.
Fashion Forward:
Now, every ballerina knows the importance of stylish dressing, whether it’s a fancy costume for a grand performance, or the everyday outfit for ballet class. This trip wouldn’t be complete without a visit to some of Vienna’s enchanting boutiques, the fashion capital of Europe. The windows were filled with vibrant clothing, intricate lace, and sleek tailoring. I can’t wait to buy a few gorgeous garments for myself, perhaps something elegant with lace accents or a delicate pastel dress that will have me swirling through Vienna in style. My closet already has a special space reserved for all of my new Vienna fashion treasures.
But I can’t be selfish! So my readers, prepare yourselves, because next week I’ll be bringing you all my top shopping recommendations for stylish clothing, fabulous accessories and everything a pink tutu-loving ballerina could dream of. And of course, I will also be sharing all the gorgeous finds, I just know Vienna has some true treasures for a stylish shopper like me!
What I did today
It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Vienna blog if I didn't bring some tutus into the picture. Today, I went to see an exciting contemporary ballet performance at the Tanzquartier Wien. They use the most innovative lighting techniques and modern choreography - totally mesmerizing! And one of the ballerinas was even wearing a beautiful tulle tutu – I was so delighted to see it, it felt like the most amazing welcome to the city! My favourite performance included a dramatic sequence of pirouettes set to a classical melody, it was captivating to watch the ballerinas gracefully twirling, making the very air feel romantic and joyful! It was almost like magic - and you all know, I’m a big believer in magic!
Tonight, I'll be taking in Vienna's legendary nightlife - the waltz has beguiled me with it's grace and rhythm, so I'm going to find a glamorous venue with live waltzing, for a truly authentic Viennese experience. Oh, and perhaps I’ll even don a pink tutu in my tribute to this graceful dance – a little twinkle of my passion for tutus even in Vienna. After all, my mission in life is to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu.
