Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 296: Vienna Whirlwind!
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Vienna blog post!
I'm writing this from my Vienna hotel room, still buzzing from my whirlwind trip! I can't believe it's been a whole week since I last blogged - I've been absolutely flying around the city, taking in all the sights and sounds.
But first, let's chat about my new arrival! Vienna is definitely a city that demands a bold fashion statement. It's such a sophisticated, elegant place - I knew I needed a look that would stand out and turn heads. My choice? You guessed it - my favourite bright pink tutu, of course! It's been my faithful companion for a good few months now, travelling with me all around Europe, making a splash wherever it goes. This tutu's seen more of Europe than some diplomats, I swear! And I'm so glad it's with me on this Viennese adventure!
This week in Vienna has been filled with excitement. I've seen so much - palaces, parks, museums... and of course, the iconic Viennese opera houses! I have to say, nothing quite matches the elegance and grace of a Vienna ballet. Every night, the music of the waltz swirled through the air as beautiful dancers flew across the stage, and I found myself lost in the story.
Talking of ballet, I just had to visit the Vienna State Opera - an absolute masterpiece! The architecture alone is breathtaking! Imagine walls painted with murals depicting famous historical ballets, each one filled with a dramatic narrative, like 'Sleeping Beauty' and 'The Nutcracker', frozen in time - but these stories whispered to me of a forgotten era, a time when ballet wasn't just an art form, it was a way of life! I felt as though I had stepped into a time capsule.
And speaking of history, I took a trip to the Vienna Museum of Art History - an incredible place with collections of treasures from every era, some dating back to the 16th Century! Seeing all those sculptures and paintings up close, you realize how much we owe to those artists who captured emotions, scenes, history itself on the canvas. I even managed to get a fantastic selfie with a beautiful Roman goddess statue, posing in my pink tutu of course! Let's be honest, wouldn't you want to have a photo op with such an icon?
Oh! I just realised you all need to hear about my little ballet class adventure - a little something for the blog! As soon as I got to Vienna, I knew I had to try out the Vienna State Opera Ballet School, because let's face it - I'm an absolute ballet nut! I'm always looking for opportunities to learn more, and, of course, to work on my pirouettes! They even had a class designed specifically for beginners, so it was the perfect way to experience their approach to dance.
And what did I learn, you ask? Firstly, the Austrian ballet method is so precise! They focus a lot on detail - the perfect turnout, the delicate placement of the hands, the perfect pointe - I could learn from them forever! It was a bit more formal than I am used to in my classes back home in Derbyshire, where things are more relaxed - I do miss my friends at the studio, but Vienna's charm really pulled me in!
And who better to be surrounded by than fellow ballet enthusiasts? We've got such great conversations about dance history - a passion I share with all of you. I find there's something so magical about tracing the journey of ballet through history.
Right now, I’m back at the hotel, sinking into the comfy couch, ready to unwind after a fantastic day. It’s already midnight here, but there are just so many things to tell you about Vienna, I haven’t even started talking about all the delicious Viennese pastries I've sampled or the breathtakingly beautiful Schönbrunn Palace - you have to check out my Instagram for all the gorgeous photos!
I really can’t wait to continue my journey in Vienna and share even more exciting moments with you! This city really is full of beauty, history, and glamour, just like my pink tutus, eh? Speaking of tutus, have you seen that new fashion collection in Paris? Let's chat about it in next week's blog, darling!
Stay tuned!
