Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 336 - A Waltz with Vienna's Glamour! (10.10.2001)

Hello my lovely tutu twirlers!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means! Time for another Pink Tutu Vienna blog post!

This week, Vienna has been utterly bewitching. My pink tutu's practically spun themselves around, twirling in the Austrian air! I even caught a few jealous stares from a very elegant flock of pigeons!

Let me tell you, this city knows how to waltz. The elegance! The beauty! It's almost enough to make me want to hang up my dancing shoes and become an opera singer... (almost.)

But of course, a Pink Tutu Ballerina never forgets her roots.

Speaking of roots, did you know the word "tutu" wasn't even used for our fabulous fluffy skirts until the 1800s? They called them ballet skirts or short skirts. I bet tutu sounds a lot more glamorous though, don't you think?

It's interesting how fashion, like dance, evolves. And oh my, how the ballet costumes have evolved! From the elegant lines of the Romantic era to the incredible athleticism showcased in modern pieces, there's such a history to explore. Speaking of exploring...

This week has been a whirlwind of exciting discoveries:

*On Monday, I finally went to see a show at the Vienna State Opera House. * I wore my favourite tulle pink tutu (with a dash of black, naturally!), a simple, but stunning, black bodice, and of course, the best ballet flats my little shoe-loving heart could find.

Can we talk about the architecture? I'm talking Baroque beauty with gilded detail, plush velvet seats, and an ornate chandelier that seemed to shimmer with a thousand stars. And the show itself? Well, let's just say the music had me swirling in my seat (metaphorically, of course!).

After the performance, I discovered a charming cafe across the street, perfect for watching the Viennese evening come alive.

On Tuesday, I was lucky enough to attend a ballet class with a local teacher! Now, she may not have been a fan of my pink tutu (but let's be honest, it's impossible not to be mesmerized!), but her knowledge of technique was superb! I learned so much about the intricacies of Viennese ballet – the focus on elegant lines and precise movements – and had such a fantastic time.

The day concluded with a fabulous meal at a traditional Viennese restaurant. Schnitzel, anyone? I know you are all as big fans of a good schnitzel as I am!

Wednesday was devoted to shopping, a beloved Pink Tutu tradition, of course! And my goodness, did I find some treasures!

Vienna is an absolute paradise for fashion-lovers. From elegant boutiques showcasing classic designs to vintage shops filled with delightful surprises, I spent the day browsing through all the beauty this city has to offer. I even found a delicate pink scarf for my grandma! She has a Pink Tutu Grandmother's Group she runs at her local ballet studio, in Derbyshire! (She actually makes me send her outfits!)

And that leads me to my Pink Tutu Question of the Week!

Have you ever had the chance to experience a truly fantastic ballet performance? Tell me about it in the comments below! I love to hear all your ballet stories.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to pack my Pink Tutu Vienna bags. It's back on the road for me tomorrow! You never know where the next adventure awaits! (It might involve a horse drawn carriage… maybe.)

Until next Wednesday, twirl in style, my darling ballet bunnies!

Emma
