Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #360 – The Whirlwind of Vienna!

Darling readers! Welcome to my weekly dose of all things pink, tutus and, of course, Vienna! I'm so excited to be writing from this beautiful city! It's like stepping into a fairytale - charming cobblestone streets, grand architecture, and a whole heap of waltzing, something even this tutu-wearing girl can't resist!

Today's date, the 27th of March, 2003, marked a truly special day! I was treated to a magnificent ballet performance at the Vienna State Opera, a place overflowing with history and elegance. Just getting there was an adventure! A handsome gentleman - in full military uniform! - offered to drive me in his horse-drawn carriage. Now that's what I call a grand entrance, wouldn't you agree?

The performance itself was magnifique! They were dancing to Stravinsky, and oh my, the choreography was just breathtaking. Every step seemed to tell a story, every turn a moment of sheer grace. It reminded me of the ballet classes I took as a young girl back in Derbyshire - the sweat, the effort, and of course, the pure joy of movement. I swear I almost went onto the stage to join in! But I managed to keep myself on the right side of the velvet ropes!

And of course, I had to get into the spirit of things by finding the perfect outfit for the occasion. I wore a blush pink tulle tutu - so very Vienna - paired with a flowing silk blouse, a touch of vintage-inspired jewellery, and, for that extra dash of 'je ne sais quoi', a velvet ribbon tied around my braid. If there’s a place to wear a tutu, darling, it's Vienna!

Speaking of fashion, this city is an absolute haven for sartorial delights. Imagine, antique boutiques selling vintage frocks with feathers and sequins, and trendy shops brimming with the latest designer creations. I must confess, I treated myself to a brand new pair of opera gloves. Why have boring gloves when you can have ones adorned with delicate embroidery and exquisite lace? You understand, don’t you, my lovelies?

After the ballet, I wandered through the city's beautiful squares, each one offering a feast for the eyes - towering buildings, enchanting fountains, and those magnificent Viennese cafes. Vienna, dear readers, is a city that inspires!

And let's talk about those cakes, shall we? Vienna is simply synonymous with coffee and cakes, and it was impossible to leave without indulging. So, imagine, a cup of aromatic, dark Viennese coffee, served in a crystal cup, accompanied by a generous slice of “Sachertorte” (chocolate cake with apricot jam)! It was absolutely heavenly, my darlings, truly heavenly!

My trip to Vienna is truly reminding me why I love travelling. It's not just about visiting new places; it's about experiencing different cultures, broadening my horizons, and indulging in that most delightful of pleasures: finding beautiful things to wear. Oh, and finding things to eat!

The experience of travelling in Europe is something I encourage you all to do - especially with a trusty pink tutu on! After all, why go anywhere plainly when you can do it in style? It truly brightens up the world!

So, stay tuned, my sweet readers, for more tales from this city of waltzes, elegance, and the joy of simply living life to the fullest! As I always say: "Never underestimate the power of a pink tutu to bring a little bit of magic to your life!”

Until next Wednesday, darling readers,

Yours in tulle,

Emma xxx
