Vienna Calling! #PinkTutuVienna - Blog Post #380
Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger, Emma, and guess where I am?! Yes, Vienna, the heart of classical music, waltzes and sigh… beautiful tutus! You may be surprised that this week's PinkTutuVienna blog post comes from the continent, but honestly, I just had to get out of England for a while and explore a little! And what better place for a ballerina to go than to Vienna, right? 😉
This is post #380 of my adventures. I know, right? I started this blog all the way back in 2001 when I first started sharing my pink tutu fashion tips and my adventures. Now, here I am, living the dream and travelling the world in my tutus! This week, it's a grand tour of Vienna in search of the perfect tutu, the most enchanting ballet performance, and maybe even some Austrian-themed pink frills!
Vienna is just delightful! As I hopped off the train from Derbyshire, I could practically hear the strains of a waltz echoing from the city's historic streets. There's an undeniable charm here that’s just… well, waltzing!
Fashion & Finding the Perfect PinkOf course, no visit to Vienna is complete without a good shopping spree. The city’s filled with vintage boutiques and ateliers, so I just had to do some hunting for some divine tutus and elegant pink frocks. Now, this may surprise you, but Viennese fashion is surprisingly… edgy!
I’ve been eyeing a black tulle skirt that's just divine for ages! It’s not your typical "PinkTutu" look, but a black tutu for evening dancing feels almost ethereal. I must admit, this may be my most edgy buy to date!
I can't wait to combine my new skirt with some delicate, pastel pink shoes. There’s this delightful little shop I found, tucked away in a cobbled alleyway, that specialises in handcrafted shoes and dainty pink accessories. Perfect for that classic ballerina look.
Honestly, shopping is truly one of life’s great pleasures, and the combination of Vienna’s old-world charm and trendy shops makes for the perfect shopping trip. And, well, let’s be honest, how could I NOT find the perfect tutu for my #PinkTutuVienna blog while I'm in Austria!
Dancing my Way Through HistoryNow, on to what I came here for: ballet! This evening, I'm off to see the Vienna State Opera's production of "Swan Lake," and let me tell you, excitement levels are at a 10! Vienna boasts an extraordinary ballet tradition, one I've been studying since childhood.
One thing that has always fascinated me is the rich history of dance and the influence of Vienna's culture on ballet history. Did you know that the Waltz itself, a cornerstone of Viennese culture, has a significant place in ballet? It’s an intricate connection that makes this city just magical for someone like me.
My days have been filled with explorations: touring the Vienna State Opera house, learning the intricate steps of Viennese ballet, even taking a ballet class myself! The Viennese dancers are known for their elegance and precision, and learning from their instructors is such a privilege! I even attempted some waltz steps in my tutus – it’s surprisingly good exercise!
The Charm of Horse-Drawn CarriagesNow, you know how much I love traveling by horse, so naturally, a carriage ride through the streets of Vienna was a must! The horse-drawn carriages add a certain charm, making you feel as though you've stepped right into a classic film.
We had such a delightful ride along the Ringstrasse, with a gentle trot through the city's main avenues. I felt like I was truly living in a fairytale! The golden sun shining on the ornate buildings, the wind whipping through my hair, the click-clack of the horse’s hooves… Just a perfect picture for my #PinkTutuVienna album!
Spreading the Tutu LoveAs much as I love a good tutu, it's not just about the fashion, darlings. My passion lies in bringing back the fun, the excitement, and the joy that ballet can inspire in all of us. It's not just about fancy moves and elegant steps, but about the expression, the confidence, and the sense of freedom it brings.
Every time I perform or even just put on a tutu, I'm aiming to inspire more and more people to embrace the playful spirit of dance! Who knows? Maybe one day Vienna will have its own pink tutu parade. 😉
Well, my dear readers, that’s all for this week's #PinkTutuVienna. Next week, I’ll be blogging about my day exploring Vienna's hidden gems. There are many exciting places and adventures yet to come on my Austrian tour.
As always, I love hearing your thoughts! Send me your messages and tell me what you think. Do let me know if there’s something you want to see me wear next time, or maybe a place you think I should visit. I'm always open to suggestions!
Keep sparkling, Emma xoxo
