Hello, darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another #PinkTutuVienna post! Today I'm waltzing through the charming streets of Vienna, a city that practically begs for a twirl in a pink tutu. This week's been an absolute whirlwind of waltzes, Wiener schnitzels, and oh, so much pink!
But first, a quick update from the home front: I just landed back in Vienna after a delightful jaunt through the English countryside, visiting family in Derbyshire. It was lovely to catch up and share stories over steaming mugs of tea and homemade cakes, but nothing beats the electric buzz of a bustling European capital!
Speaking of electrifying buzz, my most recent ballet performance was a roaring success! The audience went wild for "The Firebird," and I was particularly pleased with my portrayal of the fiery princess. It's moments like these that remind me why I love what I do – sharing my passion for dance and spreading a little joy, one twirl at a time.
And that brings me to this week's grand adventure: exploring Vienna! Vienna, Austria, is the city of waltzes, of stunning architecture, and yes, believe it or not, of tutus!
The Pink Paradise: Vienna's Tutu Tale
Oh, the wonders that await the tutu-loving traveller! Vienna's rich cultural history extends beyond its musical legacy, it's a wonderland of fashion and design! Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a vintage costume shop overflowing with the most exquisite, feather-boa-trimmed, beaded creations. My heart skipped a beat when I saw a pale pink tutu tucked away in a dusty corner – perfect for an afternoon waltzing along the Ringstrasse, Vienna’s grand boulevard.
Speaking of waltzes, did you know that the waltz originated right here in Vienna? The elegant, sweeping movements of this iconic dance form are the perfect metaphor for the city itself.
I just had to join a class, naturally, and I must say, it's not as easy as it looks! But who am I to say no to a bit of a challenge? After all, a true ballerina is always ready to take the stage, and I think the streets of Vienna are my perfect performance space!

I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of this glorious city. On Monday, I found myself gazing in awe at the grandeur of Schönbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg emperors. Just picturing the glittering balls, the extravagant costumes, the waltzing ladies… oh, it makes me dream of being whisked back to that bygone era.
Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without indulging in a little bit of schnitzel. On Tuesday, I enjoyed a delightful lunch at a traditional Viennese restaurant, surrounded by the clatter of dishes, the aroma of rich sauces, and the warmth of friendly smiles.
Now, Vienna may be known for its traditional architecture and charming cafés, but don't let that fool you - there's a modern, vibrant side to this city too. On Wednesday evening, I enjoyed an eclectic performance by a group of young street artists. Their blend of hip-hop dance and theatrical acrobatics was both edgy and captivating! It definitely reminded me that even in the most traditional of cities, creativity can bloom in unexpected places.
Tutu Thoughts
As I sit here, contemplating the sights and sounds of Vienna, my mind races with plans for the next few days. I plan to visit the opulent Opera House, take a leisurely carriage ride through the sprawling Vienna Woods, and, of course, hunt down more pink tutu treasures! There are so many amazing vintage shops tucked away in Vienna’s quaint little alleyways. It’s like a secret society for the fashionable – the perfect setting for finding the next dazzling addition to my collection.
But perhaps the most beautiful discovery I've made here in Vienna is the city itself. It’s a city with a captivating history, a vibrant present, and a future full of possibilities. It's a city that invites you to dance, to explore, and to dream.
And, of course, it's a city that perfectly complements the twirling charm of a pink tutu.
