Vienna Waltz: A Pink Tutu Adventures in Austria - Blog Post #432

Hello, darlings!

It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another adventure in pink! This week, I'm writing to you from the glorious city of Vienna, Austria. The cobbled streets are a fairytale of ochre and gold, and the air is filled with the scent of pastries and the melody of Strauss waltzes. It's pure magic, especially for a pink tutu enthusiast like me.

Now, you may be wondering, how did this Derbyshire lass find herself waltzing through Vienna? Well, it's all thanks to a lovely ballet commission at the Vienna State Opera. A whole week of performances, darling! It's a dream come true! After the shows, I'm embracing the city's charm by dancing the night away at the famous Vienna Ballrooms, even catching the odd opera performance! And of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without indulging in the exquisite Viennese pastries, especially the divine Sachertorte. Sighs contentedly.

A Tutu-ful Fashion Extravaganza in Vienna:

You know I love to explore the local fashion scene, and Vienna certainly doesn't disappoint. The city has a wonderfully romantic and elegant feel, with vintage shops bursting at the seams with gorgeous, intricately crafted lace and tulle – perfect for tutu inspiration, wouldn't you say?

I've been particularly charmed by the gorgeous selection of vintage tutus I found at "Vintage Vienna," nestled in a quiet cobblestoned alleyway. I snatched up a delicate, antique lilac tulle tutu for a steal! It will be perfect for a vintage-themed photoshoot by the Belvedere Palace – don't forget to watch this space for those pictures!

Vienna is also home to an exquisite collection of opulent fabrics. My search for the perfect shade of pink for my next custom-designed tutu led me to a silk emporium that felt like a secret treasure trove! Oh, the colours! And the textures! I could get lost in there for days. Just imagine, darling! A silk pink tutu shimmering under the Austrian moonlight! Gasp.

A Pink Tutu Through History:

Of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without exploring the history of ballet. I made a pilgrimage to the Imperial Palace, a building steeped in regal splendour and the ghosts of waltzing waltzers. Just imagine, my darling, those stunning grand balls with ladies swirling in their glorious tutus, all a-flutter in their beautiful costumes.

Vienna's ballet heritage is as rich as the city's history itself. It's a city that literally breathes ballet, from the ornate architecture to the lingering aroma of a Viennese waltz in the air. It's no surprise, then, that Vienna is also home to the world-famous Vienna State Opera, a building of immense beauty and the birthplace of some of ballet's most celebrated stars.

Travelling by Train and Carriage:

I had to incorporate my love for travelling in a vintage carriage with a charming horse, which I had seen pictures of when planning the trip! And you know what? It was just as magical as I dreamed! We rode through the streets of Vienna, past the grand buildings and beautiful gardens. The gentle rhythm of the horse's hooves against the cobblestones felt as rhythmic as the Viennese waltzes, it was quite dreamy!

The train journey, I must admit, has been equally beautiful. It is incredible to be able to take a journey through such charming scenery, a countryside of vineyards and majestic hills that stretches as far as the eye can see, as well as charming small towns, the quaint little villages of Austria. The journey itself is truly an adventure in pink!

Vienna, you stole my heart!

There’s just something so romantic and whimsical about Vienna. It’s a city that reminds you to slow down and appreciate the finer things in life. You know what else reminds me to appreciate the finer things in life? Pink tutus! That’s right! I’ve been having a ball here (literally!) twirling my pink tutu and spreading the joy. From waltzing at the grand ballrooms to twirling in the enchanting Viennese gardens, this city inspires me to embrace life with the same vibrant spirit as my pink tutu.

I’m absolutely thrilled to have shared these experiences with you all! Stay tuned next Wednesday for another adventure in pink, because you know that life’s too short not to be dancing in a pink tutu!

Until then, my darlings, stay sparkly!

Your loving Emma xx
