Vienna, My Darling, A Ballet Dream Come True! (Post #453)

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu wearing blogger, Emma, writing to you from the magical city of Vienna. As you all know, Wednesdays are for Vienna and today, my dears, I am absolutely positively over the moon. The reason? Vienna, darling Vienna, is living up to all its ballet-loving, historical grandeur expectations, and I am completely swept away.

This is my fourth week here, and already, I have fallen head over heels for the Viennese charm. I am, of course, spending my time exploring its glorious ballet history, its stunning architecture, and, naturally, all the places with the best shops and vintage clothes. Today is Wednesday 7th January, and itā€™s just freezing but a touch of sparkle from my pink tutu can warm even the coldest of winter days.

Itā€™s been a whirlwind of excitement since I arrived in this enchanting city, and believe me, darlings, I've already managed to squeeze in more than my fair share of ballerina bliss.

First things first, my travels, you know how I love train journeys, well, let me tell you, travelling by train in Europe is just a dream! So comfy and relaxing, I practically fell asleep in the carriage! From the stunning snow-covered landscapes to the picturesque countryside, it was like being in a ballet performance itself - only instead of the stage, we had nature as our backdrop. My dear pink tutu of course, came along on the journey too. Sheā€™s never too far away. And oh my darling readers, do you remember how excited I was about taking a horse-drawn carriage ride? Well, I took it this weekend! It was just like being whisked away in a romantic fairytale, and so fitting for the romantic city of Vienna.

This week I went to see the Vienna State Opera which has an amazing history! This building dates back to the 18th century. Itā€™s even a Unesco world heritage site! The sheer beauty and history of this theatre gave me the most amazing sense of grandeur. This opera house is truly iconic, and its breathtaking interior left me speechless. As for the show, oh my, it was 'Die Fledermaus' by Johann Strauss II - and oh my darlings, the sheer beauty, grace, and excitement of the whole thing had me twirling on the edge of my seat. There's something magical about seeing these world-class performances - it's like all the fairy tales and dreams you've ever read just come to life.

Speaking of magical moments, Iā€™ve discovered the cutest little tutu shop called ā€œLe Tutu Chicā€! The name was just screaming at me, "Emma, this is for you!" My, my, what treasures! Rows and rows of tulle and silks in every color imaginable! I managed to resist purchasing six tutus (my handbag was already overflowing with all my ballet shoes and books, haha!), but, I bought some absolutely delightful new ribbons to match my outfits, naturally! My Vienna wardrobe needs an update ā€“ a new ballet dress was the first on my shopping list, and Iā€™ve already got a second in my eye, you know how it is darling. Itā€™s a terrible curse for someone who loves tutus to travel to a place that has such great clothes shops! But that's part of the joy of it, donā€™t you think?

Vienna is just overflowing with history. My favourite thing so far has been taking a guided tour of the Schƶnbrunn Palace. Honestly, it is stunning, darlings. You can imagine all the famous waltzes being played within its beautiful rooms - even with no music, my toes were just twitching. Youā€™ll just have to take a look for yourselves!

Of course, Iā€™m taking all the opportunity to get a few ballet practice sessions in. Thereā€™s just something magical about a ballet studio, a place filled with history and passion. I found the most beautiful studio tucked away down a side street and had a fantastic class - I think even the locals were surprised when a little pink tutu wearing lady turned up in the class, lol!

And, my darling readers, how can I talk about Vienna without talking about the Viennese waltz? Oh my, just the sound of the music has me already getting that dance fever as I type! I feel it coming over me already.

The people here have been so kind and welcoming, too. I feel so lucky to be exploring this beautiful city - even if it does involve a fair bit of ballet-ing around in my tutu. As you know, that is never a bad thing!

I also found this wonderful cafĆ© in a secret alley called 'Sweet Dreams CafĆ©'! Itā€™s so quirky, with all the prettiest vintage china teacups, you just have to pop in for a little pick-me-up if youā€™re ever here.

And of course, what is a ballet-loving, pink tutu wearing, fashion-loving blogger without a fabulous photoshoot in a beautiful setting. And here's my lovely Viennese waltz-worthy tutu picture - as always, my little pink tutu is just the perfect match!

Stay tuned next week darlings. Thereā€™s a grand waltz party planned this weekend, so I have got some special shoes and a fabulous dress for this exciting occasion. It's time to go waltz my way into my dreams! I'll let you all know how it went, darlings, and will share pictures on Instagram. Until next week darlings, keep spinning and sparkling, and remember... a pink tutu can turn every day into a fairytale.

Big love,

Emma xx
