Pink Tutu Vienna - Post 515: waltzing in Vienna, my love for all things pink, and the power of a tutu!
Wednesday, 16th March, 2005
Hello my dearest pink-loving darlings! This week, I've traded my Derbyshire dales for the grand avenues of Vienna, a city steeped in waltzing and history – much like the tutus we all adore!
This week's post is all about my adventures in Vienna, a city so magical it’s practically out of a fairytale. I landed last Friday (it was quite the journey – I chose to travel by train this time, which, you know, gave me ample opportunity to show off my latest pink tutu!) and I've been utterly swept off my feet by this beautiful city.
Oh, the delights! Vienna, a haven of beautiful buildings, delicious cakes, and oh so much music! (Who could ask for anything more?!)
I've already had my fill of sightseeing. My trusty pink tutu and I have been prancing through the Hofburg Palace, taking in the majestic beauty of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and even exploring the famous Schönbrunn Palace, all the while taking in the architectural elegance.
Vienna, oh Vienna, you have me entranced with your pink-hued charm!
My Pink Tutu Vienna Itinerary:
Since I've only been here a short while, I thought it would be fun to share a little of my "Pink Tutu Vienna Itinerary" for anyone looking for inspiration to plan their own girly-glamorous city trip.
A Waltz into the Week:
My Monday morning began with a waltz (not literally, I am not quite that fancy!) – a ballet class at Vienna's famous Staatsoper. Oh, it was heaven! Just picturing the elegance and artistry of those beautiful dancers in their magnificent tutus just made my heart skip a beat.
And speaking of ballet, a pink tutu lover cannot be in Vienna without seeing a performance at the Staatsoper. Oh my, this was my true highlight! The building is truly beautiful and I loved getting lost in the artistry, costumes, and grace of the dancers.
Where to shop for the ultimate Pink Tutu Adventure:
Of course, no trip to Vienna (or anywhere for that matter) is complete without some good ol' fashion shopping. Luckily for my fellow pink tutu aficionados, Vienna is a haven for pink and vintage style.
Here are my top picks:
The Old City (Innere Stadt): This historic district is home to charming boutiques bursting with antique trinkets, vintage clothes, and of course, beautiful hats and jewellery perfect for complimenting your pink tutu.
Mariahilfer Strasse: For more contemporary styles, look no further than Mariahilfer Strasse. The perfect blend of big-name brands and local boutiques. It’s an absolute must-visit for anyone on a shopping spree in Vienna.
- The Naschmarkt: For those who adore the colourful world of textiles, you simply must visit Vienna's largest market – the Naschmarkt. Here you’ll find fabrics galore, colourful stands, and oh so many little treasures.
And of course, you know I had to hunt down some pink tutus (that's pretty much my mission in life after all!). The search took me all the way to the Wiedner Hauptstrasse, a street lined with shops filled with costumes for ballet, theatre and of course, some utterly divine pink tutus.

A big fan of deliciousness, I had to treat myself to a little Sachertorte. What's a Vienna trip without it? The traditional Viennese chocolate cake, is as scrumptious as it is historic! The iconic café Sacher in Vienna has to be the perfect place to enjoy your cake, steeped in a beautiful historic ambience.
The End of my Vienna Adventures - for Now!
Vienna, you have been an unforgettable adventure and you've stolen my heart! Every single corner has given me the inspiration for new posts on my beloved website – www.pink-tutu.com. I'm leaving with my heart filled with new experiences and of course, some lovely new finds to show off in my pink tutus.
Join me next week, where I'll be posting about my latest ventures from a different exciting destination - until then, keep dancing and dreaming in pink!
Stay happy, gorgeous, and never be afraid to embrace the world in your own personal style.
Your dearest Pink Tutu Friend,
Emma
