Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 551 - A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel!
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means - it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna post! This week, I'm positively bursting with excitement because I'm finally in Vienna! Iāve dreamed of coming here ever since I was a little girl, twirling in my first tutu, captivated by the tales of the elegant waltzes and beautiful costumes of the Viennese ballet. And now, here I am, with a whole suitcase of pink tutus (it was a bit heavy on the journey, but I managed to squeeze them in!), ready to explore this magical city.
Journey to the Heart of Europe
I arrived in Vienna last Saturday after a most delightful train journey from Derbyshire. The countryside whizzed past, a kaleidoscope of autumn colours - rust, gold, and scarlet - it was absolutely breathtaking! And of course, I wore my favourite pale pink tulle tutu on the journey - it wouldnāt have been a true Pink Tutu Vienna experience without it! As always, the train was the perfect opportunity to catch up on some ballet reading. I delved into a biography about Rudolf Nureyev ā what a truly extraordinary dancer, and his connection with Vienna is so special. I even had a lovely chat with a fellow traveller who was a fellow ballet enthusiast, itās so nice to meet like-minded souls on my journeys!
First Glimpses of Viennese Charm
Stepping out of the station, I was immediately enveloped in the magic of Vienna. The grand architecture, the cobbled streets, the charming cafes... itās all just soā¦ romantic! My hotel room was just adorable, with a beautiful chandelier and floral wallpaper ā I knew instantly it was the perfect setting for my stay.
I took a leisurely walk around the city, admiring the beautiful buildings and stopping for a coffee at a traditional Viennese cafĆ©. Viennaās charm lies in its heritage, it truly is the āCity of Musicā, and everywhere you go you can feel its rich cultural history ā I almost expected to see a waltzing couple glide by. I can't wait to visit the Schƶnbrunn Palace and take in the beauty of its gardens, perhaps Iāll even try my hand at a waltz!
Vienna's Fashion Scene: Finding My Perfect Pink Tutu
You all know that one of my absolute favourite things to do in any city is explore the shops! Vienna's shopping scene did not disappoint! The city's shops are a paradise for fashion lovers, with a great selection of classic designers, as well as some fantastic vintage boutiques. I was particularly excited about discovering a boutique dedicated entirely to ballet accessories! I absolutely had to try on some tutus, and letās just say, I found myself leaving with two new additions to my pink tutu collection! Theyāll make the perfect additions to my stage outfits, so be sure to look out for photos on my Instagram, @pinktutuvienna!
Viennaās Gastronomic Delights
Food plays a vital part of the travelling experience, donāt you agree? I've been making sure to indulge in some delicious Viennese cuisine ā I highly recommend trying Wiener Schnitzel! It's simply divine! Yesterday I even tried a traditional Apfelstrudel and enjoyed a glass of Austrian white wine in one of those quintessentially Viennese coffee houses. It's a truly luxurious experience, darling! But I can't wait to share a traditional Viennese breakfast with you next week ā it's truly something special.
A Dance Under the Stars
Tonight I'm off to the Vienna State Opera for an evening performance! I have tickets for a performance of 'Giselleā which is the quintessential ballet in terms of its history and style! Imagine, a performance by some of the most incredible dancers in the world ā I can't wait! The whole evening will be filled with beauty, elegance, and music, a ballet dream come true! If only you could all join me! But no worries, I'll make sure to tell you all about it in next weekās blog!
Toodles for now, darlings!
I'm already dreaming of waltzing around Viennaās beautiful squares in a pink tutu! This city has captured my heart ā itās elegant, graceful, and bursting with beauty. But before I sign off, remember: wear your tutu proudly, twirl freely, and always embrace your inner ballerina!
And, of course, make sure you visit me at www.pink-tutu.com for more Vienna adventures next week. Until then, twirl on!
XOXO
Emma
