Vienna Calling! 🌸🩰

Hello darlings! It's Emma from Derbyshire here, reporting live from the most glamorous city I've ever visited - Vienna!

This week's post is bursting with pink (as always, of course!), twirling and all things fabulous. After a whirlwind train journey through the most stunning scenery imaginable, I arrived in this breathtaking city yesterday, feeling like a fairytale princess in my blush pink tutu. Speaking of, my latest acquisition is a simply divine pale pink tulle creation, perfect for exploring the cobblestone streets of Vienna, wouldn't you agree?

My journey here began in the heart of Derbyshire, where I left the misty Peak District behind and took the train from our charming little station. I always feel a bit melancholy leaving our dear home, but Vienna was calling and the excitement was bubbling over!

The train ride itself was pure magic. We snaked through the English countryside, past charming villages, emerald green fields, and rolling hills. Then, just when I was enjoying a spot of tea and a scone, we crossed the English Channel and found ourselves racing towards the heart of Europe. The scenery just kept getting more stunning, with snow-capped mountains towering above picturesque villages and the most incredible sunsets I've ever witnessed. Even the other passengers, mostly businessmen in suits and ties, were enchanted by the view!

But honestly, I couldn't help but feel a pang of longing for my darling tutu as I sat surrounded by the greys and blacks of the travelling world. Fortunately, I brought along my favourite floral print headscarf, a splash of colour that never fails to lift my spirits!

And let's not forget my pink-tinged spectacles. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those boring old frames like everyone else - they do wonders for my perception of the world! 😉

So, upon arrival in Vienna, I felt absolutely giddy, as if I were waltzing into a real-life operetta! My hotel is charming and elegant, situated on a quiet side street where cobblestone gives way to blooming chestnut trees. Even my room is adorned with delicate lace and frilly pillows, which feels simply divine.

A ballerina's haven

You can probably guess where I headed first - the Wiener Staatsoper, of course! I spent the entire afternoon simply wandering the opulent halls, drinking in the grandeur of this historic opera house. The beautiful marble staircase, the glistening chandeliers, the breathtaking murals, even the opulent restrooms... Everything screamed "luxury" and "history" and had me spinning around in my tutu, just wanting to sing, dance, and shout, "This is magnificent!"

Did I mention I was practically in a frenzy trying to choose the perfect ballet performance for this week? The opera house has such an incredible line-up - from the most classic of ballets, to a contemporary piece featuring the extraordinary choreography of someone you’ve never even heard of. I’m dying to catch the newest staging of “Swan Lake,” of course. Just thinking about it makes my heart skip a beat! The dancers are absolutely divine – you should check them out! It’s so hard to pick though – there’s so much to see, I feel like I need at least a month here to take in everything!

Of course, no trip to Vienna is complete without visiting the legendary ballet museum – the Österreichisches Museum für Volkskunde. I'm positively giddy about it! Imagine - a treasure trove of all things dance, from exquisite tutus and ornate stage sets to historic dance manuals and photographs of legendary ballerinas. I can’t wait to spend hours amongst all of these beautiful things. A little secret - I'm even thinking about buying my own vintage tutu, wouldn't that be just divine?

Beyond the stage

Now, let’s talk fashion! I haven’t had the chance to hit the shops yet, but Vienna is said to have some of the most exquisite boutiques around. I have a list longer than my leg (well, almost!) – but I am planning to hunt down some new, stunning accessories that match my ballet pink tutu. Maybe a new hat to give it a touch of elegant sophistication – something in a bright fuschia maybe? A delicate pearl necklace that will be just perfect for my swan lake performance this evening... or perhaps some vibrant pink-patterned silk scarves for my upcoming shows – you never know! Vienna is just bursting with potential for stylish treasures! I'm a true girly-girl when it comes to shopping – finding beautiful clothes and accessorizing just takes my breath away.

And let's not forget the city itself! This city has such an old-world charm and romance about it. I'm already lost in the magical alleyways, the stunning architecture, and the lively cafes. It truly is a feast for the senses.

My friend Sarah told me I simply must ride in one of those grand Viennese horse-drawn carriages, and who am I to argue? Of course I’m going to try it. It's the perfect way to enjoy the charm of this city. Can you imagine me riding along, with a beautiful bouquet of pastel roses, dressed in a billowing tulle tutu, maybe even a beautiful silk ribbon to tie my curls into a dramatic side braid… I will be a princess from a fairy tale. The ultimate feminine, dreamy experience!

Vienna is captivating. It feels like I have fallen into a vintage movie, all elegant balls, stunning waltzes, and elegant conversations over dainty cups of Viennese coffee. I'm absolutely charmed.

Don't forget to catch me twirling through Vienna this week! You can follow my adventures on www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday.

See you soon,

Emma 🌸🩰
