Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #624 - Whirlwind Wednesday in Vienna!

Hello, my lovely tutus! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - another fabulously pink adventure in Vienna, straight from yours truly, Emma, in my favourite shade of pink, of course! I've had the most glorious week, filled with all things I love, and I can't wait to share it with you!

This week, I've been soaking up the springtime vibes in Vienna, and trust me, they are positively bursting with beauty! The city is absolutely blooming, and everywhere I turn, there's a cascade of delicate blossoms. And guess what? I even managed to sneak in a ballet class at the Staatsoper Vienna! I tell you, my darling tutus, there's something truly magical about pirouetting in such a historic, opulent building. The gilded grandeur of the Opera House always sends my little ballerina heart aflutter.

But first, let me take you back a little. Last weekend, I had a whirlwind adventure, all thanks to the magnificent Vienna State Opera House. I snagged a role in their latest production, Giselle, and let me tell you, it was a truly unforgettable experience. Playing the lead role, a heartbroken country maiden, meant learning all the steps, getting into the costume, and becoming one with the character, and my tutu! It's truly magical how we dancers bring stories to life with our bodies, our movement, and our costumes.

Of course, every role needs a fabulously elegant costume, and the tutus in Giselle were utterly dreamy! Made of ethereal white gauze, adorned with shimmering embroidery, and featuring exquisite hand-stitched details, they were every ballerina's dream come true! I simply adored twirling and dancing in them!

After the performance, we went out to celebrate at one of Vienna's fabulous, vintage-inspired tea rooms, the Cafe Sacher, for a bit of bubbly and some delightful chocolate cake, something a ballerina can appreciate. There I got chatting to a group of fellow dancers, who all had their own incredible ballet stories to tell.

Speaking of ballet stories, my dear tutus, did you know that Giselle is a tragic romantic tale set in a 19th-century forest? It's so full of beautiful dances, intense emotion, and stunning costumes, which is perhaps why it remains a ballet classic.

This week, though, I've been spending most of my time researching Vienna's incredibly rich ballet history, for my next blog post. You see, this amazing city has a captivating ballet past, and I just know that it's overflowing with fascinating facts, exciting discoveries, and maybe even some pink tutu inspiration. Imagine, a ballet set in the heart of Vienna, with delicate costumes inspired by the intricate designs of the Vienna Secession? Absolutely breathtaking!

And my adventures didn't stop there. On Sunday, I ventured out of the city, heading to the beautiful Vienna Woods. It's absolutely magical, and what's more magical is that the Vienna Woods Carriage Drivers are always happy to take tourists on scenic rides. Can you imagine being whisked away through a canopy of blooming trees, pulled by majestic horses? Talk about the ultimate ballerina experience!

For those of you who prefer a little more pace, Vienna boasts a beautifully modern, sleek and fast railway system, the Wiener Linien, where I often ride to the ballet classes in the city centre, all the while contemplating the possibilities of adding some more tutus to my collection!

Oh, my darling tutus, the fun isn't over yet. This week I discovered a delightful ballet supply shop in the city center, bursting with exquisite pointe shoes, luxurious dancewear, and...drumroll...a selection of vintage pink tutus! You can be sure, they'll make an appearance on my Instagram page this week. My lovely pink tutu wearers, Vienna is simply overflowing with ballet magic!

Of course, I always make time for a bit of shopping in Vienna, and trust me, it's no ordinary retail therapy! I always visit a few of the famous Vienna boutiques and department stores, with their incredibly beautiful displays of haute couture. I just love spotting the latest trends in designer footwear, handbags, and of course, tutus! Let's face it, what is more divine than a fabulous pair of pink shoes or a vintage pink tulle tutu?

Speaking of pink tutus, you can always spot me dancing on Vienna's beautiful, cobbled streets. Every week, a local street performance troupe has rehearsals, and you guessed it, there’s a lot of pink in my performances. If you see a little pink tornado pirouetting down the street, that's me! Every Saturday night, we gather at a grand old theater called the Theater an der Wien for an impromptu ballet showcase! Come on down and have some fun with me!

Remember, darling tutus, my journey isn't about chasing perfection, it's about sharing the joy of dance and the wonder of the world, one pink tutu at a time. You can always follow me on social media, where I share my adventures in detail. This week, you can catch me on @PinkTutuVienna on Twitter, and @pinktutuvienna on Instagram! I can't wait to hear what you’re up to!

See you all next Wednesday, my dears!

And remember, darling tutus: every day is an opportunity to embrace your inner ballerina, even if you're just twirling around your living room in a fluffy pink tutu! Just don't forget to smile! Because let's be honest, life is simply too beautiful not to dance with joy and a pink tutu!

Until next Wednesday!

Lots of love,

Emma.
