Pink Tutu Vienna - Post 638: Waltz of the Vienna Woods 🩰💕

Dearest readers,

This week, I’ve brought a touch of Derbyshire to the heart of Austria! Vienna, the City of Music, has become my new playground, and it’s absolutely brimming with pink-tutu-worthy delights. This Wednesday, let's twirl through a waltz of cultural discoveries, Parisian shopping, and breathtaking Viennese vistas!

As always, the journey began on a vintage train journey from Innsbruck – think plush seats, a gentle chugging rhythm, and dreamy landscapes that I could have stared at for hours. The perfect setting to daydream about the legendary Vienna State Opera, home to some of the greatest ballet productions in the world.

My mission in Vienna, apart from getting lost in the city’s charm, was to delve deeper into the history of dance, which, as you know, is a true passion of mine! My adventure started at the Schönbrunn Palace, where I toured the opulent chambers where Empress Maria Theresa’s daughters perfected their ballet steps. The sight of her old ballet shoes brought goosebumps!

It’s no surprise Vienna boasts one of the oldest ballet traditions in the world, dating back to the 15th century. The dance culture has woven its way through history here, inspiring countless masterpieces that resonate across the globe.

After the palace tour, a divine afternoon tea was the perfect way to regain energy for my shopping spree! Vienna is a haven for vintage boutiques, and I unearthed a symphony of treasures – silk scarves in dreamy pinks, delicately embroidered tulle, and, of course, the pièce de résistance – a perfect pale pink tutu to twirl around the city. It’s just the right amount of frothy and chic to add a touch of whimsy to my explorations.

Speaking of twirling, you know I couldn’t miss out on a visit to the Hofburg Palace. It was a breathtaking sight, a beautiful medley of ancient architecture, lush gardens, and exquisite artworks. The sight of the sprawling palace from the iconic Vienna State Opera was an unforgettable moment. Imagine a majestic grand staircase leading into a world of elegance and artistry, the perfect backdrop for a pink tutu.

Now, onto the main attraction, the heart and soul of Viennese culture: music. After exploring the Musikverein, the prestigious concert hall where countless iconic performances have taken place, I had the opportunity to attend the most enchanting performance at the Vienna State Opera. As the orchestra’s sweet notes swirled around me, I was mesmerized by the beauty and athleticism of the dancers on stage. They were poetry in motion, each gesture an expression of a timeless art form.

Of course, no Viennese evening is complete without a touch of traditional flair! I stepped into a world of waltzing grace and decadent cuisine at the Heurigen wine taverns, a Viennese tradition I wholeheartedly endorse! It’s a must for anyone seeking a taste of the authentic Austrian way of life.

But even after days immersed in Viennese magic, I haven’t lost sight of my bigger mission - spreading the pink tutu revolution! Vienna may be a city of music and history, but it’s also an exciting playground for those who embrace fashion with a touch of whimsy.

One evening, I ventured out to the city centre with my new tutu – an explosion of pale pink that stole the hearts of all who passed by. The smiles and delighted gasps were a melody all their own. Imagine my joy at witnessing children’s faces light up at the sight of a ballerina twirling down a cobblestone street – a visual reminder that joy and creativity are always in style!

But there is a bigger message I'd love to convey. I firmly believe that tutus, like ballet, aren’t bound by age, gender, or location. Every woman, every girl deserves to feel like a ballerina, to embrace her inner elegance and sparkle! So, if you haven't yet, join me, my lovely readers, and make your own splash in the world - one pink tutu at a time!

Until next week, twirl with joy, Emma
