Pink Tutu Vienna: Post Number 679 - 7th May 2008 - A Whirl Through Vienna's Ballet-Filled Streets!

Hello, my darlings! It's Emma, your resident pink tutu-clad travel blogger, bringing you another whirl of excitement from the enchanting city of Vienna. Today is Wednesday, which means it's time for our weekly peek into the world of ballet and, of course, tutus. This week's blog, dear readers, will be brimming with everything lovely about this city: the breathtaking ballet, the glorious history, and yes, the shopping! Let's start with this wonderful Wednesday...

From Derbyshire to Vienna - A Train Journey to Remember

After a whirlwind of performances back home in Derbyshire, I was off to the station, suitcase packed with a plethora of tutus (naturally!) and my trusty pink travelling companion, my trusty oversized teddy bear. I just can't help myself - there is a magic in hopping on board a train. I can picture all the adventures ahead, the sights, sounds and the smells of Vienna calling out to me. This train journey was filled with anticipation - a ballet show at the Vienna State Opera, and who knows what other tutu-worthy adventures await?

Vienna - A Ballet-Filled Wonderland

And wouldn't you know it, Vienna was just as magical as I had envisioned! The moment I arrived, I felt like a ballerina in a grand fairytale, with its beautiful buildings and charming streets, Vienna was a city made for waltzing!

Ballet Heaven: Vienna State Opera

My first stop? Why, the Vienna State Opera, of course! A magnificent, awe-inspiring place of ballet history. As soon as I stepped through the grand doors, the plush velvet seating and the intoxicating atmosphere of anticipation almost made me dizzy! I was absolutely dazzled. Tonight's ballet, Giselle, is an absolute classic. The dancing was magnificent - the dancers were simply exquisite! Their costumes? A beautiful mix of simple yet elegant, it just showcased their dancing abilities perfectly! The story was moving, captivating, and of course, a little bit tragic – I had to resist a few tears. I adore stories about passion and devotion – I wonder if there is someone out there for me? Someone who will dance with me through life in a flurry of pink tutus and endless giggles? I am definitely dreaming of romance tonight, amidst the gorgeous backdrop of the Vienna State Opera!

Shopping Spree: A Pink Tutu Paradise!

I'm not one for resisting the lure of a good shop, so of course, I had to find a little bit of Viennese couture to add to my wardrobe! I just have to find the perfect pink tutu to go with a showstopper dress for the Viennese waltz. Vienna's shops are full of beautiful clothes - silk gowns, feather boas, sequins, pearls and oh, so many dazzling hats! This time I decided on a vibrant silk scarf, with an adorable pink bird on it! Perfect for adding a bit of my favourite pink flair to my Vienna attire.

Afternoon Delight - Coffee & Culture!

Who would have thought coffee was so elegant? It's all about the presentation here, and the traditional coffeehouses, or Kaffeehäuser, are absolutely divine. In a beautifully crafted pink tutu, my new scarf, and clutching my cup of "Wiener Melange", I indulged in the afternoon charm. There is something magical about these charming cafes, filled with the clinking of porcelain and the hum of conversations - perfect for observing people! In these charming little cafes, it feels like life is slowing down, allowing me to appreciate all that is Vienna - just delightful!

A Touch of Ballet History:

One can't visit Vienna without a journey into its fascinating history. I found myself walking along the Ringstrasse, admiring the magnificent architecture – grand buildings, churches, palaces... oh so opulent and grand! This was a great chance to wander back to the roots of Vienna’s ballet scene – a journey into time and stories of grace and passion, set against a beautiful, romantic backdrop!

The Horse & Carriage Ride - A Pink Tutu Princess Moment!

No trip to Vienna is complete without a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. It truly is a charming and enchanting way to see the city. I was wrapped in a cosy pink shawl (a delightful discovery in a vintage boutique this afternoon) and took a spin through the streets of Vienna, feeling like a princess from a fairytale! The trot of the horses, the gentle rattle of the wheels, the fresh air and the magic of this historic city, it's moments like these that make me believe in a life full of magic!

Vienna - A Place for Dance Lovers & Pink Tutu Dreamers!

Vienna, Vienna - what a captivating city! So much ballet, history, beauty, and oh, the shopping! Vienna will forever hold a special place in my heart! The energy here, it’s positively effervescent! It’s as though I'm on a fairytale journey, wearing my favourite pink tutu, through the grand palaces, ancient streets and bustling coffeehouses, I feel completely enveloped in romance! And all the excitement still feels like the opening of a brand new ballet! The dancers and performances have set a very high standard indeed! Oh, I must return, and bring along some dear friends! We’ll have the most magical of times exploring Vienna and creating memories of our own! And now, dearest readers, I must away to bed! I am exhausted but so happy from all the exciting things in this city! And oh, how my toes ache! I have a feeling they need a whole new set of pink shoes after dancing the night away at the opera.

Don’t forget to keep an eye out for my next post! My next week will be full of Parisian enchantment - oh how I adore the City of Lights! Until then, keep dancing!

With Love, Emma
