Pink Tutu Vienna: Post Number 683 – Whirlwind in Vienna!

Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday again, which means a brand new Pink Tutu Vienna adventure is ready for you! This week, I'm waltzing around Vienna, a city so elegant it could make even the most ardent ballet hater swoon. The waltz is even named after the Viennese waltz! It's like stepping into a fairytale. Picture cobblestone streets, grand buildings dripping with history, and charming cafes where you can sip a cappuccino and soak it all in. Oh, and the fashion! Vienna’s ladies have got style down to a fine art, with so many gorgeous florals and lace frocks, it's a pink tutu-loving girl's dream.

This week, my travels have been packed with delightful discoveries and experiences, and I’m so excited to share them with you. From exploring breathtaking ballet venues to strolling through charming markets and gardens, every moment has been filled with joie de vivre.

My Tutu Diary – A Vienna Whirlwind

I arrived in Vienna on Monday, the carriage ride from the train station to my darling little hotel felt straight out of a Mozart opera. It was a touch of whimsical enchantment I never tire of! As soon as I stepped inside the hotel, a grand, floral arrangement filled the lobby and a symphony of tinkling laughter wafted from the cafe. Vienna truly knows how to wow a girl.

I immediately put my dancing shoes to the test, hitting the pavement for a leisurely stroll through the city centre. The architecture here is something to behold - imagine graceful towers reaching towards the sky, adorned with intricate sculptures, every corner a testament to history. I stopped for a spot of tea at the Sacher Cafe, their cakes were a taste of pure indulgence, and a perfect spot for watching the world go by. The afternoon sunshine created a golden glow across the streets and made me feel utterly in my element!

Wednesday's Waltz – A Cultural Celebration!

I know you love hearing about all my ballet adventures, and Vienna hasn't disappointed. This evening I attended a performance of Swan Lake at the Vienna State Opera House, and oh, my dears! It was sheer perfection. The costumes were spectacular, the dancers were graceful and talented beyond compare, and the music had me completely enthralled. Every note was a delicate masterpiece, a sensory feast!

After the show, I found a little cafe by the Opera House, where I tucked into a creamy chocolate mousse (for I must keep up my ballerina strength you know!), watching the late-night revelers enjoying Vienna's vibrant atmosphere. There was a sense of magic in the air, reminding me how truly extraordinary life is.

A Little Tutu Twist - Finding the Pink!

You know me and my passion for finding that perfect shade of pink in any city. And Vienna certainly wasn't lacking in this department! My quest for the most perfectly pink tulle led me to a charming little boutique called Die Seidenhand, where the shopkeeper greeted me with a wide smile, just as welcoming as the overflowing shelves bursting with silks, laces, and satins!

As I drifted through the shop, I found my fingers brushing the softest shades of rose and blush - it felt like an embrace in a cloud! You bet I found some beautiful additions for my wardrobe, of course. A dainty pink lace shawl and a tiny, embroidered silk clutch for my next ballet adventure are just what I need to truly capture the spirit of this city.

Vienna through a Ballerina's Eyes

But there’s much more to this magical city than ballet and pretty clothes! The history, the culture, the people - it’s all a delicious, intricate tapestry. Yesterday I walked through the sprawling gardens of Schönbrunn Palace, a testament to royal splendor. The fountains sparkled in the sun and the roses smelled heavenly. Later I took a Fiaker (that’s a horse-drawn carriage!), through the streets and it truly felt like stepping back in time!

The Fiaker was as graceful and gentle as a waltzing partner. I rode past magnificent churches with soaring spires, the St. Stephen’s Cathedral with its impressive architecture, and the historic Hofburg Palace, where history itself felt tangible. There's something very grounding about travelling through a city in this traditional way, letting Vienna reveal itself to you in its own rhythm.

A Taste of Vienna's Charm

Vienna, my darlings, is a city for those who appreciate life’s simple pleasures. This morning, I started my day with a delicious cup of coffee and a slice of apple strudel at a quaint little cafe in the heart of the city. The strudel was perfectly flakey and warm with the freshest apples and cinnamon filling. And the coffee! Strong, rich and bold, perfect for kickstarting my day. You know, even a ballerina needs fuel for her adventures.

Today is my last day here. The afternoon will be spent browsing in Vienna's antique markets, hunting for some quirky treasures. I'm searching for a beautiful silver ballerina pin to add to my collection - I can’t leave this ballet-inspired city without a keepsake to remind me of the magic I've experienced!

I’m going to savour every last minute before catching my train back home later this evening. This little city is so full of grace and beauty - a perfect combination of elegance and history, like a swirling, delicate ballet, spun from light and laughter. And Vienna, it seems you've worked your magic on this pink-tutu-clad ballerina.

* Until next time!*

Love always,

*Emma *
