Vienna, My Darling! (Post #705)

Hello my darling pink tutu wearers! It's Wednesday, so you know what that meansā€¦ a brand new blog post from yours truly, Emma, right here in fabulous Vienna! This week, my pink tutu journey takes me to the heart of Austria, and oh my, itā€™s a true fairytale come to life.

I arrived in Vienna last week, alighting from the train like a graceful ballerina (yes, even in this glorious, fluffy pink tutu). My travelling tutu is slightly less dramatic than my stage costumes, thank goodness. Can you imagine trying to get through customs in a full, sparkling, six-layered masterpiece? Letā€™s just say Iā€™m not going for ā€œballerina on the runā€ vibes at the airport, darling.

Speaking of arriving in style, Viennaā€™s Central Station is quite a sight! Imagine towering marble arches, exquisite frescoes, and enough gilded details to make a magpie go dizzy. The sheer grandeur is utterly captivating. This city oozes history and charm from every cobblestone. It feels like a timeless fairyland, which makes me, well, extremely happy.

As for my week so far? Iā€™ve spent days flitting around the city like a graceful butterfly (in pink, obviously), sipping cappuccino in quaint cafes, and admiring the exquisite architecture. Have you seen the buildings here, lovelies? Seriously, theyā€™re works of art! Think elaborate Baroque facades, swirling mosaics, and spires that seem to kiss the sky. My camera has been going into overdrive trying to capture their beauty.

This past Saturday, I found myself at the magnificent Vienna State Opera House, one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. It was an incredible experience! I saw a mesmerising performance of "The Magic Flute" by Mozart ā€“ pure magic! The music, the costumes, the setā€¦ everything was spectacular. And my pink tutu was practically buzzing with excitement throughout.

Speaking of costumes, have I mentioned the amazing costume shops I've discovered in Vienna? I mean, the selection of vintage, one-of-a-kind pieces is simply divine. My purse was definitely feeling the love (and the weight) this week!

Today, Iā€™m planning to head to the Kunsthistorisches Museum, a haven for art lovers. Iā€™ve heard whispers of breathtaking collections of paintings and sculptures. Iā€™m also hoping to visit the Vienna Ballet Museum and delve into the history of the Vienna Ballet.

Now, about that tutu history I promised... this week, we're diving into the history of tutus. Did you know the modern tutu wasn't always the flamboyant, billowing confection it is today? Back in the 1800s, it was essentially a shorter version of the long, heavy skirts ballerinas wore! They were far less glamorous and restricted movement significantly. Imagine trying to leap in that kind of dress! Thankfully, fashion and innovation always come to the rescue.

Can you imagine a ballet performance without a tutu, my dears? Theyā€™ve become an integral part of ballet history, a symbol of grace, movement and ethereal beauty. Think of how a tutu flows, swirling like a cloud of tulle as a dancer leaps, turns and soars across the stage. It's a triumph of design and elegance, a perfect marriage of practicality and aesthetics!

However, I firmly believe that every day is a celebration of tutus! In Vienna, they say, "the city never sleeps", and I say, "the pink tutu always sparkles!" So why not bring a little sparkle into your own day? You can dress like a princess, embrace your inner ballerina and enjoy the twirling magic of a pink tutu, wherever you are!

This week in Vienna has truly been a fairytale come true. My tutu's already planning a return visit, my dears, and you're all invited. Don't forget, you can find more pink tutu adventures, and loads more, on my website, www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday!

Until next time, twirl on!

Emma xo
