Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #728 - Vienna Waltz and Tutu Twirls!

Wednesday 15th April 2009

Hello darlings! It’s Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad correspondent, and this week I'm whisking you off to the magnificent city of Vienna! Now, let me just tell you, it's positively dripping in glamour! The buildings are all honey-coloured and grand, the shops are brimming with exquisite trinkets, and there's a charming old-world air that makes you feel like you've stepped back in time. Oh, and let’s not forget the gorgeous cafes – so many perfect for sipping a latte while I ponder what dazzling outfits to wear for tonight's performance.

Vienna is a true paradise for any ballet lover. You know me – I'm positively obsessed! It's all thanks to my childhood in Derbyshire. Every Sunday, I'd be twirling in our living room, pretending to be a graceful ballerina in my very first, handmade pink tutu. It wasn’t just a tutu – it was a dream. A dream I have happily chased ever since! And now, I'm waltzing through Europe, spreading my passion for all things pink and tulle with every elegant step.

Of course, this week I’m especially excited about Vienna's long-held ballet tradition. The Vienna State Opera is simply stunning! Imagine a vast, plush theatre, a glittering chandelier that hangs from the ceiling like a breathtaking constellation, and a ballet performance that makes your toes tap and your heart sing! You haven’t lived until you've experienced a Vienna ballet, I assure you!

Before we step into the theatre though, let’s do a little shopping! I simply cannot resist a good window (or should I say storefront?) display. Vienna has some truly exceptional shops – some have existed for over a century. Think shimmering silks, bejeweled shoes, and dresses fit for a queen! They’re definitely giving me ideas for a new stage costume – and let me tell you, the colour palette is perfect for a pink-tutu enthusiast like me. We’re talking shades of pink, ruby red, champagne gold and a whole lotta glitz and glamour, darlings!

After my shopping spree, we’re heading for “Kaffeehaus Central”. It's Vienna’s iconic cafe where artists, musicians and writers have been creating magic for centuries. They’ve had me hooked with their elegant décor – we’re talking polished wood, stained glass windows, and plush velvet armchairs that you just want to sink into and never get up from! A spot of afternoon tea here is the ultimate Viennese indulgence. And of course, a hot chocolate – Viennese chocolate, by the way, is famous for a reason – with whipped cream and a delicate, sugar-dusted heart on top is absolutely divine!

Tonight, the spotlight is mine! I’ll be performing in "Giselle," a haunting and poignant story that will take us through the enchanting world of romance and betrayal. Imagine romantic scenes of a blossoming love, a heart broken by deceit, and the tragic journey of a heartbroken spirit. I promise, darlings, this will be an experience that stays with you.

Afterwards, we’ll head back to the cafe for some champagne – you can never have too much bubbles! – and some decadent dessert, followed by a midnight waltz with a local waltz instructor, and if we’re lucky maybe even a horse drawn carriage.

My adventures in Vienna wouldn’t be complete without some traditional Viennese charm, so we’re going to explore the beautiful Imperial Palace with its gardens full of vibrant flowers and fountains. They really know how to make an entrance, darlings! The history is rich and the architecture simply divine! This is an enchanting, historic place where you can really feel a tangible sense of the city's glorious past.

It’s not just Vienna's history that steals the show though! This is a city where elegance and innovation blend seamlessly, where history meets the modern age and the air buzzes with the energy of a thousand waltzing dreams. I hope my adventures in this magnificent city inspire you to embrace your own inner tutu, to go forth and conquer the world with confidence and style. Because let's be honest, darlings, there's simply no place in this world that looks better in a pink tutu than Vienna.

Until next week, remember to stay chic, keep those tutus twirling, and follow me on pink-tutu.com for my weekly dose of ballet bliss, travel tips and fashion inspiration. I can't wait to hear from you and share in your own amazing adventures.

Lots of love, Emma x
