Vienna Waltz: A Pink Tutu Adventure (Post #771)

Dearest fellow twirlers,

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another delightful instalment from your favourite pink-tutu-clad blogger, yours truly, Emma, writing to you from the heart of Vienna, Austria!

As you know, this week has been brimming with waltzes and Viennese delights. It’s the most romantic city in the world, I'm convinced. I've been channeling my inner Empress Elisabeth, but instead of grand ball gowns, I’m sporting a gorgeous pink tutu and a little black jacket to keep the crisp Austrian air at bay.

Oh, before I forget, remember I mentioned the grand prize I won for the “Most Fabulous Tutu Performance” in the recent Derbyshire Ballet competition? Yes, a fabulous trip to Vienna! All expenses paid - flights, accommodation, and a delicious itinerary curated just for me. It really is a dream come true.

This week, I've been swept away by Vienna's majestic architecture, exploring hidden alleyways, and sipping steaming mugs of delicious coffee in cafes adorned with opulent chandeliers. It's truly a place that makes you feel like you've stepped into a fairytale. And the music! Oh, the music! I feel like my very soul is in a permanent waltz with the Viennese charm that seeps into everything you do here.

Speaking of music, how could I neglect to mention the highlight of my trip? The Vienna State Opera! I was lucky enough to secure tickets to see a performance of "La Traviata" – the music, the costumes, the incredible artistry of the dancers - it was simply breathtaking. You can imagine me afterwards, whirling around outside the opera house in my pink tutu, humming the melody. It felt absolutely perfect!

To capture the true essence of Viennese culture, we went for a leisurely ride on a horse-drawn carriage, taking in the breathtaking views of the city's sprawling palaces and charming squares. I must say, feeling the wind in my hair and the rhythmic clip-clop of hooves was rather magical.

Oh, and the shopping! Vienna has such a wonderful mix of antique boutiques, charming bookshops, and chic designer stores. I had to purchase a beautiful handmade straw hat with a large pink ribbon for the upcoming season’s promenade – it felt like the perfect reminder of this truly magical city.

And because I can't leave a single opportunity for tutus unexplored, I ventured into a delightful ballet studio tucked away in a quiet street. The dance teacher, a lovely woman named Frau Schmidt, graciously offered me a chance to join their weekly class. While I did my best to follow along with the elegant waltz moves, I confess I had a slight accident during a grand jeté, which ended up sending my pink tutu in a flurry to the ceiling – much to the amusement of the other dancers! However, I managed to turn it into a impromptu comedic ballet move, garnering much applause from everyone present. Frau Schmidt even gave me a special pink ballet ribbon to adorn my tutu.

So much has happened in just a few days here, I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement. And I'm not just buzzing – my heart is singing along to the city’s melodic rhythm!

Don’t forget to catch me next Wednesday for a new adventure from this glamorous city! And in the meantime, be sure to twirl and embrace the magic that surrounds you, dear readers. Remember, life is a beautiful waltz – let your own pink tutu become your inspiration!

Until then,

With love and twirls,

Emma
