Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #784 - Vienna Waltz

Well, hello my lovelies! Emma here, reporting live from the fabulous city of Vienna! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I’m wearing, you guessed it, a pink tutu. A delicate tulle creation with silver sequins that shimmer in the midday sun, a perfect outfit for a city as vibrant and historic as this. I swear, Vienna is positively waltzing me off my feet!

This week, I thought I’d take you on a journey through the captivating world of Vienna’s ballet and opera. Yes, this city breathes the air of art and performance, and trust me, it's every bit as captivating as you imagine. I’ve been taking a series of ballet classes in this very pink-hued studio tucked away in a charming cobbled side street, and let me tell you, I’m waltzing right into that “je ne sais quoi” every time I leave. It's a truly enchanting feeling, being in the heart of ballet, knowing that my feet are literally treading where legends once did.

Speaking of legends, I simply had to visit the Vienna State Opera. Standing before this magnificent building, I felt transported to a bygone era of extravagance. The grand marble facade and the ornate statues whispered stories of glorious ballets, dramatic operas, and world-renowned dancers. I felt a shiver down my spine as I imagined myself stepping into a world of soaring melodies, graceful pirouettes, and passionate performances.

Of course, my first order of business was a proper shopping expedition, and what better place than the city's elegant boutiques? The atmosphere was buzzing with Parisian chic – think crisp white shirts, stylish A-line dresses, and, yes, you guessed it – tutus. I found the most exquisite tutu shop, filled with all sorts of swirling, glittering creations in every shade imaginable, but naturally, pink held my gaze the most. There's something about the color, it's so soft yet powerful, so whimsical yet sophisticated.

And let's talk about the city's charm, shall we? Vienna’s beautiful parks with their romantic benches, their grand palaces, their charming cafes, and, of course, the majestic Hofburg Palace, where centuries of Habsburg emperors and empresses resided – I’ve fallen head over heels with Vienna’s history. And talking of history, you know my absolute favourite thing to do when visiting a new place is to get a taste of its ballet history. In Vienna, the journey started with the opulent court of Empress Maria Theresa. Imagine, balls and lavish performances, dancers in swirling gowns, tutus and tights! Then, it was the genius of choreographer, Salvatore Viganò, who brought a new, romantic ballet era to the city, laying the groundwork for the glorious Vienna Ballet of today.

Naturally, a trip to Vienna wouldn't be complete without experiencing its world-renowned waltz. I had the chance to watch the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra perform in the grand setting of the Musikverein. It was an unforgettable experience, with the music filling the air, making me want to twirl around the concert hall!

Oh, and speaking of twirling… guess what I've discovered? A wonderful riding school where I've had the absolute pleasure of taking horse riding lessons. The Lippizaner horses are absolutely breathtaking! Imagine their sleek black coats, the way they move with such grace and power. And guess what? I managed to coax a rather gorgeous waltz from one of these noble steeds.

My dear readers, this Vienna journey has been filled with so much wonder and elegance. I’ve immersed myself in the beauty of art, history, and performance. From graceful ballet to powerful waltzes, every corner of this city holds its own magical story. But you know me – no adventure is complete without sharing it with you. So, come along on my Pink Tutu adventures. Get out there, find your pink tutu, embrace the joy of ballet and let the spirit of Vienna guide your dance!

See you next week, lovelies. Until then, remember to twirl, smile, and dance your heart out!

Lots of love,

Emma xx
