Pink Tutu Vienna - Blog Post #803 - Wednesday 22nd September 2010

Vienna, my darlings!

Oh, Vienna, how I love you! Your grand palaces, your cobbled streets, your bustling cafes, your music, your art... but most of all, the ballet! Vienna is a ballet paradise, and this week I'm feeling like a princess who has been whisked away to a fairytale!

Travel Adventures

I arrived by train, of course! Travelling by train is always so romantic and exciting. It's such a fun way to see the world - you're part of it, and you get to look out the window at all the amazing scenery. I made sure to have my trusty pink tutu on, of course, just to make my train journey a bit more special. You never know who you might encounter on a train journey!

As soon as I arrived in Vienna, I knew I had to experience a little bit of Viennese charm, so I hopped on a horse-drawn carriage. This is an absolute must-do for anyone visiting this gorgeous city! We ambled through the streets, taking in the grand architecture, passing by the most exquisite shops filled with exquisite hats and fascinators. I simply couldn't resist taking some photos of my beautiful tutu against the backdrop of Vienna's magnificence. It was a dream come true!

Ballet Extravaganza

And speaking of dreams... Vienna has the most spectacular ballet shows! This week, I had the absolute honour of attending a performance of "Swan Lake" at the Vienna State Opera. My goodness, it was absolutely magical! The costumes were breathtaking, the dancing was exquisite, the music... pure poetry in motion! I was absolutely spellbound by the choreography, the dancers' graceful movements, and the incredible stage sets. The energy in the theater was electrifying, and I could practically feel the excitement tingling in the air.

And as always, I managed to slip in some ballet shopping after the show! There's a fabulous shop right outside the opera house called "TanzBoutique Vienna" where I snagged some exquisite tulle and sequined fabrics to add a bit of Vienna magic to my own tutus.

Exploring The Past

You all know how much I love history, and Vienna is positively brimming with it. I spent the afternoon getting lost in the glorious halls of the Hofburg Palace, home to the Imperial Treasury. The amount of intricate jewels and glittering artefacts on display was simply mind-blowing! My favourite piece, hands down, was the Imperial Crown - absolutely dazzling, and oh-so-grand.

Shopping, Darling!

Let's be honest - no trip to Vienna is complete without a little retail therapy! I spent a delightful morning browsing the elegant boutiques and vintage shops along the Kärntner Straße, finding the most exquisite pink accessories. I picked up some divine pastel pink feather boas and a gorgeous pair of ballet flats with pearl embellishments - so perfect for my Vienna wardrobe!

Food, Glorious Food!

Vienna's cafes are a true treat! I had the most decadent slice of Sachertorte at Hotel Sacher Wien, a Viennese classic I just had to try! And of course, I sampled a few traditional Viennese coffees - a Viennese experience simply isn't complete without a perfectly frothed cappuccino or a strong, aromatic espresso.

Pink Tutu Inspiration

And the best part? Everyone in Vienna loves a bit of pink! I spotted the cutest pink poodle (naturally!) being walked by a lady in a beautiful fuchsia dress! My pink tutu, I have to admit, felt right at home in this colourful city!

Vienna, you are a treasure, and I will definitely be back!

Until next week, my lovelies,

Emma
