A Dash of Derbyshire to the Heart of Austria
It's been a whirlwind since last Wednesday, darling. You know, I’ve been so busy jet-setting around Europe, my dear readers. I absolutely adore train travel. A romantic old fashioned steam train was how I got here, taking me all the way from the heart of Derbyshire to the heart of Austria!
It was like something out of a fairy tale - steam billowing, the rhythmic clackety-clack of the wheels on the track, and me, in my prettiest pink tulle number, dreaming of dancing waltzes through Vienna. (I even got some curious glances from the other passengers - clearly, the locals don't have enough pink tutus in their lives!)
My Vienna Agenda: A Symphony of Style & Shows
So, Vienna! You've welcomed me with open arms - or shall I say, open doors? The sheer grandeur of these old palaces and buildings, you’ll be surprised, just beg for a good pirouette! And speaking of grandeur… my Vienna to-do list is absolutely bursting at the seams!
Firstly, Vienna is simply overflowing with ballet, and I simply must soak up all this artistic beauty! I’ve already snagged tickets for the Vienna State Opera's production of Giselle – can’t wait! Giselle was my absolute favourite ballet as a little girl - remember my little performance in our local village hall? It seems so long ago! Of course, I'll be donning my most fabulous pink tutu, no less, a new number from the latest collection at my favourite designer. You've just got to see it. It's made of the softest pink satin with a sheer tulle overlay. A symphony of tulle and elegance. Just perfect for swirling around Vienna.
Next on my itinerary? A peek into Vienna’s tutu history! You've got to hear this! Vienna has one of the world's most impressive ballet archives – can you imagine? Just picture, darling, the mountains of dusty scrolls filled with tutus from epochs ago! The Viennese Ballet is so renowned – a tradition that spans centuries. This means tutus too, of course! I’m absolutely buzzing!
Shop Till You Drop: Fashion Finds & The Joy of Retail Therapy
I'm all for a bit of culture, but don’t worry, you won't find me locked in some dusty museum. Vienna's shopping is a dream for a fashion-loving ballerina! And yes, it goes without saying that I’ve been hunting for new, pink tutus, of course. Oh, Vienna, you've spoilt me rotten with all these beautiful boutiques! You know me, I can't resist a beautiful pink confection or a dazzling accessory – every princess deserves her bling. You just can't beat a perfectly paired feather boa to go with my favourite tutus!
My biggest discovery, however, has to be the vintage stores around here! I picked up this absolutely amazing pair of gloves – perfect for adding a little vintage flair to any tutu outfit! This week’s find is perfect for dancing at the Viennese Ball… speaking of the Viennese Ball…

Speaking of Vienna's enchanting spirit… I absolutely must attend one of Vienna's world-famous balls! Did you know that Viennese balls date back centuries, my dears? They're such a special tradition and you simply can’t resist the waltz, the shimmering lights, and, of course, the magical feeling of being part of history. I know it'll be the most spectacular event, and trust me, I'm planning my pinkest tutu yet, a true showstopper.
Of course, my dancing feet are going to be taking center stage. Ballet practice, my darling, is a must if I’m to waltz with the best of them. And it goes without saying, a spot of Viennese pastry with a dollop of whipped cream afterwards? A quintessential part of every ballerina's diet.
