Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 871 – A Whirlwind of Pink in the Austrian Capital

Hello, my darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Vienna, where the twirls are always on point and the tutus never stop shining. It's Wednesday, which means a fresh post just for you! This week I'm whisking you away to the beautiful city of Vienna, the beating heart of Austria and a truly magnificent location for a ballet enthusiast like myself.

As always, my journey began on a grand railway adventure – I just love the romanticism of a train ride, all those plush seats, clattering carriages and beautiful vistas whizzing by. And yes, my pink tutu was a must-have accessory, naturally! I feel the train journey is the perfect time to contemplate the wonderful week ahead – ballet, sightseeing, and of course, a little retail therapy in the most exquisite shops Vienna has to offer. After all, it wouldn’t be Pink Tutu Vienna if we weren’t on the lookout for the next gorgeous piece of pink attire!

Vienna is, quite simply, a dream for a tutu-lover like myself. The history of dance in this city is astounding - from the days of Mozart, whose waltzes are a beautiful inspiration to dance, to the glorious "Vienna Opera Ballet," boasting one of the largest and most well-respected dance companies in the world. I mean, how could I resist such a calling?!

Speaking of history, let's chat about those iconic tutus. This week, I was captivated by the stunning 18th-century tutus displayed in a fascinating exhibition at the Museum of Performing Arts. These marvels of fabric and embroidery transported me back in time, inspiring me to imagine myself swirling and dancing on stage in the glorious palaces of the Austrian aristocracy! They truly were something to behold.

Vienna is a symphony of culture and artistry, a place where ballet takes center stage and everyone twirls with a passion. My first ballet outing of the week was "Swan Lake." This enchanting production, with its exquisite costuming and captivating choreography, had me mesmerized from start to finish. Seeing the delicate, graceful movements of the ballerinas was just breathtaking. I'll be forever thankful for their commitment and passion to bringing these classic ballets to life!

But the ballet adventures were just the beginning. I spent the week immersing myself in the heart of Vienna - strolling through the glorious Schönbrunn Palace, marveling at the architecture of the State Opera, and indulging in the most delicious pastries Vienna has to offer (oh, the decadent whipped cream! My waistline may disagree, but my tastebuds certainly adore it!)

To break up all that delicious food and the ballet, I discovered a charming stables outside the city, and oh, what a thrill to go for a leisurely ride through the picturesque Austrian countryside! I don't think I've ever felt so free!

However, even when indulging in those delightful equestrian escapades, I couldn’t resist my weekly pink tutu challenge – getting everyone in Vienna to join the pink tutu revolution! My little pink ambassadorial duties proved successful (as always) as a lovely baker offered to decorate his entire shop window with a vibrant display of pink tutu treats - now that's what I call "thinking pink!"

Vienna is a city brimming with culture, romance, and yes, plenty of opportunities to share the magic of tutus. This journey is all about spreading the joy of dance, inspiring those around me to embrace their inner ballerina and twirl with abandon! After all, why just walk when you can dance?

I’ll be back next week with even more exciting pink tutu adventures – from more ballet showcases to fashion finds you wouldn't believe, Vienna certainly is the place to be for all things whimsical and fabulous! So keep checking back for all the latest twirls from your pinkest, most enthusiastic ballerina.

Until next time, darlings!

Yours in pink,

Emma xx
