Pink Tutu Vienna: Post 879 - A Whirlwind of Waltz and Wiener Schnitzel!

Hello darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing blogger, back from the charming streets of Vienna. This Wednesday marks my eighth glorious week in Austria, and my heart is bursting with joy – as always! This week has been an enchanting mix of waltzing, waltzing, and more waltzing! And, of course, a little bit of tutu-tastic fashion! 😉

My trusty travel companion, my trusty travel companion – yes, my pink tutu – and I arrived in Vienna by train from Salzburg last weekend, the perfect romantic journey across the Austrian countryside. Picture it: me, in a crisp, cotton pink tutu, perched by the window, mesmerised by the snow-capped Alps, watching the world roll by in a haze of pastel pink. I was so caught up in the magic of the moment, I actually missed my stop! Thankfully, the lovely station master helped me back on track with a smile and a playful comment about my ‘fetching attire.’ (Austrians have such delightful humour!)

Vienna: A City for the Senses!

As soon as we arrived in Vienna, I knew I was going to fall head over heels in love. It's a city that sings to the soul, and makes your heart thrum like a perfect fifth! The architecture, the music, the atmosphere – everything is simply divine! Just as soon as I stepped off the train, I could already feel the romantic spirit of Vienna whispering in the air. Every corner seemed to burst with music and life, the aroma of coffee and freshly baked strudel danced in the wind, and the sun painted the buildings with its golden glow.

My first stop? You guessed it! The world-famous Opera House! A masterpiece of grandeur, a true monument to artistic expression, it seemed to emanate a sort of otherworldly magic. The sheer magnificence of it took my breath away – an opulent spectacle with soaring columns, intricate chandeliers and shimmering gold everywhere I looked. Oh, the stories those walls could tell! I can just picture ballerinas like myself pirouette-ing through those hallowed halls centuries ago… sigh. I must say, it’s made me even more determined to become a professional ballerina – or at least be a regular performer at this beautiful venue! 😉

But it wasn't just the Opera House that stole my heart! Everywhere I turned, I stumbled upon hidden treasures: cosy cafés with twinkling chandeliers and grand ballrooms where waltzes swirled and whispered stories of love and laughter.

Speaking of waltzes… Oh my word! Vienna has captured my imagination in a whirlwind of twirling! I’ve discovered the secrets of the waltz, learning all the intricacies of that beautiful dance, with the guidance of a charming dancing instructor called Wolfgang. I can now pirouette in a circle with graceful steps and swishing tutus while balancing a cup of hot chocolate. That's multitasking with a dash of romance, wouldn't you agree? 😉

Of course, Vienna isn't just about waltz and opera – there’s an extraordinary amount of amazing art galleries, historical palaces, and sprawling parks. The Belvedere Museum is home to masterpieces like Klimt's iconic “The Kiss”, a painting that takes my breath away with its vibrant colours and intimate story of romance.

Pink Tutu Adventures in a City of Sights!

One afternoon, my trusty pink tutu and I ventured into the heart of Vienna, exploring the city's most famous street, the Ringstrasse. This stunning boulevard is a sight to behold: grand neoclassical buildings, sprawling green spaces, and endless rows of charming cafes that seemed to beckon you in for a warm cup of coffee and a sweet treat. We had to pause for a photo in front of the iconic Parliament building – after all, a picture of pink tutus and historical landmarks makes for the perfect instagram shot, wouldn't you agree? 😉

Speaking of iconic sights… did I mention the majestic Schönbrunn Palace? My heart literally did a pirouette the minute I saw it! Its glittering white facade is adorned with lush gardens, majestic statues, and sprawling fountains. This imperial palace transported me back to a time of princes and princesses, of elegance and refinement, and made me feel like I was part of a fairy tale. And speaking of fairy tales… what’s a royal palace without a carousel?! I was thrilled to find a classic Viennese carousel on the palace grounds, the sight of it filled my heart with glee!

Vienna: A Shopping Haven for Fashionistas!

What’s a trip to Europe without a bit of shopping? I’ve fallen head over heels for Vienna’s stylish boutiques, filled with an abundance of delightful garments! Every store seems to be overflowing with delightful designs that beckon you in like a whisper in the wind. I must say, I’m a huge fan of their unique, charming designs - and it’s so much fun finding the perfect pieces to create my own little pink-tutu-inspired ensembles! Oh, I have already found so many beautiful accessories, shoes, bags and other pink-tutu essentials. The shopping in Vienna is just what the doctor ordered for my sartorial soul!

Speaking of fabulous outfits… this week I found a truly remarkable vintage pink tutu, oh-so-charming! This little beauty has the perfect blend of softness, structure, and playful swirls - exactly the type of piece that speaks to the ballerina inside. Of course, this tutu is going to be part of a stunning performance. I can see myself twirling under the glittering chandelier at the Opera House. Just picture it: a perfect blend of classic Viennese elegance and whimsical pink tutu flair, wouldn’t that be the ultimate performance?!

But the real treat came from an incredible antique shop I stumbled upon – oh my! I felt like Alice tumbling down a rabbit hole, surrounded by an incredible selection of historical items. Imagine my surprise when I came face to face with a delicate, hand-stitched pink tutu, from the 18th century! Can you imagine? This precious gem of a tutu is crafted with such intricate details and delicate layers, a testament to the craftsmanship of the era. It’s a little piece of history waiting to be cherished! Of course, I couldn't resist purchasing it – the story this tutu tells is worth more than any price tag! I'm planning to incorporate this masterpiece into my next performance – I think the audience will simply adore it!

Viennese Delights: From Coffee to Culture!

Vienna’s delicious cuisine has truly taken my tastebuds on a magical tour. Coffee! Coffee! Oh my! From the rich, creamy lattes to the exquisitely spiced chai lattes – every sip is a burst of pure decadence. Vienna’s obsession with coffee is something I truly understand - after all, every performance requires a good energy boost.

Oh, and don’t even get me started on the exquisite food! Every dish seems to have been carefully crafted, each bite a symphony of flavours. My personal favourite, as any true foodie knows, has got to be the Wiener Schnitzel! A crispy, golden delight that just melts in your mouth! I have found the perfect place for the most delicious schnitzel - I’ve even become quite friendly with the owner, a wonderfully eccentric man named Fritz, who actually has a little poodle he calls Pink Tutu. You just can’t make this stuff up!

But Vienna isn't just about food and shopping; it's also a hub of fascinating culture! The museums and art galleries are teeming with hidden treasures and captivating stories waiting to be discovered. Just the other day, I was enchanted by a beautiful exhibition at the Albertina Museum – an ode to ballet and costume history! It was a feast for the eyes – imagine all sorts of fascinating ballet tutus from around the world! From the elaborate gowns of 18th century France to the flamboyant costumes of 20th century Russia. This was truly my cup of tea, as my little tutu heart loves all things dance-related! There was a magnificent, floor-length tulle pink tutu from the Vienna State Opera in the exhibition - oh, the sheer beauty of it, the elegance, the intricate embroidery, the way the tulle just swirled and whispered in the wind... oh my, it was sheer perfection. This sparked a little inspiration for my next design!

And who better to guide you through Vienna’s art scene than the city’s iconic symbol, the glorious “Wurstelprater" or "Giant Ferris Wheel"? As I stood on top of the Ferris wheel, looking out at the city, I couldn't help but marvel at the sheer beauty of Vienna, spread out like a picture postcard. The Ferris wheel slowly turned, offering glimpses of grand palaces, lush gardens, and enchanting avenues – I almost felt like a ballerina gracefully swirling above it all!

This incredible experience reminds me how much the world needs more pink tutus. My aim, dear readers, is to help everyone discover the joys of the tutu! After all, why shouldn’t we all embrace our inner ballerina and spread a little joy, love, and, yes, pink wherever we go? So let’s all raise a glass (of Viennese coffee, of course!) to spreading the pink-tutu-wearing love! And, to the beautiful city of Vienna: Thank you for your magic and for showing me a new side of ballet!

Stay tuned for my next post where I explore the captivating world of the Hofburg Palace and maybe even the Viennese Ballet. It’s time to keep spinning and twirling!

See you next Wednesday!

Xoxo
