Pink Tutu Vienna - Post 897: Whirlwind Waltz in the Waltz Capital! šŸ©°šŸ‡¦šŸ‡¹

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday again, and that means it's time for another Pink Tutu Vienna post! I'm back in my little pink-hued paradise, the gorgeous city of Vienna, after a whirlwind trip to Prague! But more on that later...

Firstly, let me tell you all about my last few days here in the city of waltzes andā€¦well, more waltzes! My goodness, it's just impossible to avoid a waltz in this city, which is, of course, exactly how I like it!

I arrived back in Vienna on Monday evening, and the first thing I did? Well, you know me, I simply had to head to the opera house for a quick look-see! They were putting on The Magic Flute - a wonderful operatic gem by Mozart - so I grabbed myself a couple of pastries from a nearby patisserie and made myself comfortable on a bench, gazing up at the grand building. You could feel the magic of the music emanating through the building, even from the street. It's enough to give you the most splendid goosebumps!

And speaking of magicā€¦ I felt positively spellbound at the theatre last night! Oh, how I love a good ballet! Last night, it was the Vienna State Ballet performing Giselle, one of my absolute favourite romantic ballets!

I actually popped along to a performance of Giselle back in Derbyshire before I left to begin my travels. And even though I absolutely love all things dance, something about seeing a ballet performed in such a stunning historical building with an audience dressed up to the nines completely enthralled me.

It made me remember the stories about Giselle from my days studying ballet. I used to spend hours in the library with dusty tomes on the history of ballet and the famous dancers of old. Giselle was my absolute favourite to read about; she truly was a legend, so fragile yet so fierce on stage. It's amazing to think I'm seeing the very same dances in Vienna now - I felt truly transported back in time!

Talking of the dance itself - it was simply beautiful! The corps de ballet was truly elegant and the leads had a real spark and emotion about them. I can still see their movements, their expressions, even the swirling, vibrant tutus, twirling and turning. And as I watched them dance on stage, it was almost like I was floating along with them!

Speaking of tutus, I knew I simply had to get myself a new one to add to my ever-expanding collection while I was here in Vienna. As luck would have it, there is a fabulous little shop down by the river just a stone's throw from my hotel, nestled amongst some adorable antique boutiques, and you wouldnā€™t believe what they had! An exquisite dusty pink tulle tutu with pale silver sequined ribbons adorning it ā€“ oh, I could just melt! Naturally, I scooped it up and took it back to my hotel for a celebratory spin in the mirror. I truly couldnā€™t have been happier with my find!

Itā€™s almost comical, the sheer joy I get from picking out new tutus! But seriously, what can be better than an elegant, swirling, magical pink tutu?! And it truly felt like fate when I came across this beautiful creation ā€“ the shop was crammed with vintage fashion but the tutu, as if destined to be mine, was perched in a little, antique glass case, all alone and pristine. Like a fairytale princess waiting for her true love. Well, I knew I would be a very special kind of true love for this tutu ā€“ so we whisked off back to the hotel, just like true loves should. šŸ˜‰

I knew the tutu needed to be christened with a spin around the city so the very next day, after my customary walk along the Danube and an early morning stroll through the Prater park - and Iā€™ll say, it was beautiful bathed in the warm summer morning light, full of dancing birdsong - I was ready to tackle the shops of the city!

And it certainly didn't disappoint. Vienna is a true paradise for a lover of pretty clothes and accessories. Every corner reveals a charming boutique filled with silk, lace, vintage fashion and quirky hats.

For my afternoon of shop hopping, I paired my brand new pink tutu with a lovely ivory lace top - just so perfect for a day of walking through the sunny streets! Iā€™m actually thinking this might become my ā€˜Vienna shoppingā€™ outfit from now on ā€“ what do you think? Don't worry, I've even considered adding a chic jacket or shawl to keep it weather-appropriate when the sun's gone down, as the Vienna evening can often get quite chilly.

There was something utterly satisfying about spinning and swirling my way around the shops. Each twirl and step felt so perfectly in harmony with the music playing in the boutiques, the chattering and the laughter of shoppers. It truly was a sensory feast for the soul! The tutu seemed to be leading the way and somehow it brought a smile to everyone's faces - it's almost as if wearing a pink tutu can only ever have a positive effect on the world, you know!

Naturally, I went for a walk in the magnificent Schonbrunn Palace gardens later that evening. As always, they were a delightful place to lose myself, exploring all the little hidden walkways and pathways that wind their way through the gardens, taking in the fresh summer air. I sat down for a moment to listen to the orchestra that was playing beneath the moonlight ā€“ it was almost enough to make me cry tears of joy. Truly a beautiful evening!

So, that's me - Iā€™ve pretty much danced, waltzed and spun my way through the last few days here in Vienna and Iā€™m already making plans to come back again soon! What a magical city! And just so you know, my plans include some more exploring of the fabulous Schƶnbrunn Palace ā€“ this time with the amazing grounds. You know me, I couldnā€™t resist bringing home a few antique china cups and saucers last time and they look fabulous adorning my hotel room - and it wouldnā€™t be right not to find a few more treasures when I return!

My next blog post will be dedicated to Prague, I have to tell you all about it! You see, I'd been promising to visit a few friends from Derbyshire who had moved out there, and we had the most wonderful time, even going to an amazing theatre performance at The National Theatre Prague. I was so charmed, you can see why the city was once dubbed ā€œThe City of a Hundred Spiresā€ ā€“ just magnificent. And it has so much to offer, it will take me a few blog posts to truly explore its beauty!

And in the meantime, darlings, remember: spread the joy and wear a pink tutu! šŸ’–

Until next week!

Emma.
