Post Number 933: Vienna, Waltz of a Dream, and a Pink Tutu, Darling!
Hello, my lovelies! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means… time for a fresh dose of Pink Tutu Vienna! 🩰
This week, I've been whisked away to the city of waltzes and wonder – Vienna! As I write this, I'm perched on the window seat of my charming little hotel room, overlooking the beautiful Hofburg Palace, which is all decked out in spring blossoms. I’m practically giddy with excitement; the city is positively blooming with charm and culture, and of course, the fashion… oh my!
It’s a beautiful, bright Wednesday morning here in Vienna, and the sun is shining down on the cobbled streets like a spotlight on a ballerina in her prime. Speaking of ballerinas, have I told you about the extraordinary Vienna State Opera? Oh my, my! It's a vision in grandeur and opulence, the very essence of Viennese elegance. Just yesterday, I spent a glorious afternoon there, witnessing a spectacular ballet performance of "Swan Lake" (with a delightful sprinkle of pink, of course! I even spotted a ballerina who looked almost identical to me – well, if she was sporting a pink tutu, that is!). I just couldn't resist buying myself a little something from the Opera shop, a dainty little pink ribbon adorned with a miniature pair of ballet slippers – how perfect for a tutu-loving traveler, wouldn’t you say?
Speaking of travels, you’d be surprised at how wonderfully efficient the Viennese public transport system is. Just last night, I boarded a grand, old-fashioned horse-drawn carriage! It was straight out of a fairytale – it was so magical that I swear I saw a fairy godmother winking at me. And wouldn't you know it, this week, there is a special exhibition of carriages and horses at the Schönbrunn Palace, where I plan to pay a visit as soon as possible. You see, there's nothing more romantic than traveling by horse, particularly in a city like Vienna!
But let’s be honest, my dears, Vienna isn't just about majestic palaces and horse-drawn carriages (although they are simply wonderful!). Vienna is about fashion, about embracing your inner grace, about finding your own unique style, and of course, it’s about twirling and dancing!
That’s why, on Saturday, I’m taking a dance class at the beautiful, historic Tanzschule* Tanzcafé Reinthaller*. Oh, the excitement! It is the most lovely dance hall. It was built at the turn of the 20th century. All I have to do is show up in a beautiful vintage tutu and I will fit right in, my dears.
What else has Vienna got going on? Let's dive into some local colour!
A Touch of Culture:Vienna is like a beautiful box of chocolates filled with a plethora of artistic and historical treasures. Did you know the world famous, grand "The House of Music" is here? This incredible place features 11 interactive exhibits about music and musical instruments. I plan to spend the entire day there soaking up the wonderful atmosphere.
Speaking of atmosphere, I’m also heading to the "Albertina," a grand building that houses a beautiful collection of artistic masterpieces! And oh my, the museums, the theatres, the coffee houses! Vienna is a whirlwind of beautiful art and history. I may need to add an extra few days to my stay just to soak it all in!
And when I get back to England, I think my family back in Derbyshire might need a little time to adjust to seeing so much pink all at once!
A Sprinkle of StyleNo visit to Vienna is complete without a shopping spree! Oh, my dears, the vintage stores are brimming with beautiful garments just waiting to be given a second chance to twirl! And if I find a little something special that needs a little… let’s say reinventing… you know I'll be adding my own pink tutu-fied flair!
Vienna is a city where even the shops are full of style. I popped into a little vintage boutique called "Chic-Chic" near the city centre and oh my, what treasures I found! A vintage silk scarf that I think will pair perfectly with my pink tutu for an evening stroll through the beautiful streets, a gorgeous lace gloves, and even a beautifully crafted antique brooch, just like the ones my grandmother used to wear. It truly feels like I've stepped back in time and embraced the glamorous charm of bygone era.
Of course, I wouldn’t leave without indulging in a little Viennese tradition. After all, no trip to Vienna is complete without trying a delectable Sachertorte! This chocolatey, cherry-filled masterpiece is a Viennese must-have. I’ve heard there’s a rivalry in town over the ‘true’ Sachertorte, with the Hotel Sacher and Demel vying for the top spot. You’d think this wouldn’t cause a bit of a kerfuffle, but there’s no room for rivalry in a pink tutu, just a place for pure deliciousness.
Vienna truly is a symphony of experiences, a feast for the senses, and my heart has already found a little corner of this magical city to call its own. I’m so glad I could share these moments with you! And my dears, you are truly invited to share your own pink tutu adventures in Vienna or anywhere in the world with me – we’ll paint the world pink one tutu at a time!
Stay tuned for my next blog post next Wednesday!
Love,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
