Pink Tutu Vienna: Post #942 – A Viennese Waltz

Hello darlings!

This week finds me in the magical city of Vienna! I took the train over from Derbyshire, of course, and the carriage was lovely. Such elegant folks on board, all the women had the most magnificent hats! It felt like something out of a vintage movie, only even more glamorous. And I, of course, stood out in my tutu and fluffy pink coat!

This whole trip, honestly, has been so delightful, you just wouldn't believe it. As soon as the train pulled into Vienna Hauptbahnhof, I was swept away by the charm of the city. Every cobbled street is overflowing with gorgeous buildings and cafes, and the parks are so lush! My goodness, even the public transportation system is grand, with those little vintage trams. And then there's the architecture, my dears. You'd think I was in a fairy tale!

Oh, Vienna, you are an absolute dream.

This week I've been to a simply breathtaking ballet performance at the Wiener Staatsoper. Can you even believe the beauty of that venue? I was speechless as I stepped inside - the opulence, the gilded ceilings, the grandeur! I couldn't have dreamt up a more beautiful setting for an evening of grace and artistry.

And the performance? Well, it took my breath away. Every ballerina was exquisite, and their tutus - oh, the tutus! Each a symphony of tulle, each perfectly capturing the spirit of Viennese waltz. The music was heavenly, it carried you right through to the story's climax and swept you back down to earth.

Afterwards, we celebrated with a traditional Wiener Schnitzel - crispy, tender and oh-so delicious. And of course, some creamy coffee and a delicious pastry or two. I must admit, Vienna is doing an excellent job of testing my pink tutu wardrobe! I brought two suitcases, each overflowing with tulle, silk and sequins. My little pink tutu bag is stuffed with more goodies from shops along the Kohlmarkt, the shopping street. I've bought more feather boas than I've ever needed (though they're never really too many, are they?), and have enough little satin ribbons to trim every single item I own.

There's just something about Viennese style that just whispers "pink tutu." It's a city of charm, tradition and sophistication - qualities perfectly captured by a whimsical tulle skirt and a touch of pink. It just makes sense, doesn't it?

Of course, no visit to Vienna is complete without visiting the Schönbrunn Palace. This is no ordinary palace, my dears. The Palace Gardens are stunningly beautiful. It was quite like stepping into a time capsule, surrounded by baroque splendor and rich history. And of course, the Schönbrunn Zoo was a delightful little extra, so full of exotic creatures from all around the world. The most darling thing was the penguin walk: they were so adorable as they strutted by, waddling with their little penguin legs and chirping! They practically put my tutu to shame, they were that graceful!

A Moment of History

Speaking of history, I have been reading a simply fascinating book on the history of tutus! It started back in the 16th Century, can you imagine that? Imagine the excitement of seeing a ballerina for the first time! In the 19th century, Marie Taglioni famously donned her airy, floating, calf-length tulle tutu that redefined the ballet scene, and that paved the way for the gorgeous tutus we see on stage today. It's simply unbelievable!

I've found that every tutus, from the romantic 19th Century designs to the whimsical 20th-century interpretations, tells a story. It's all about movement and fluidity - they're designed to embody a vision, a feeling, a story. And of course, every single one is bursting with pink, the perfect shade to symbolise the feminine joy and grace of the ballerina.

Vienna, I'm sure you agree, is just bursting with inspiration! I can't wait to explore more of this magnificent city - from its grand cafes to its hidden alleyways. And yes, my dearest readers, I'm planning a special photoshoot, wearing my most magnificent pink tutus, to capture the magic and wonder of this city.

Stay tuned, and of course, wear pink.

Until next Wednesday, darling readers!
