Pink Tutu Vienna: #958 - A Waltz Through Vienna's Charm

Oh darling, Vienna! I simply had to share this city's magic with you, and what better time than Wednesday, the day I bless your screens with all things Pink Tutu Vienna!

Today's the eleventh of September, and my dearest diary, I’m in a whirlwind of excitement after arriving by train, yes, train! Who needs the jet-setting life when you can take in the scenic countryside while sipping Earl Grey tea in your pink tutu, hm?

I know what you're thinking: "But Emma, tutus on a train?! How practical!" Well, dear readers, a girl's got to maintain her flair, and my tutu is my lucky charm. And don’t worry, my travelling tutu is all practicality and grace - a light-as-a-feather chiffon that won’t ruffle feathers or hinder my adventures.

Stepping onto the platform in Vienna was like walking into a fairytale. Imagine cobblestone streets, charming shops spilling onto the sidewalks, and that enchanting air of history that just fills you with wonder. I felt like I’d been transported back to the days of grand waltzes and elegant gowns. It's a feeling I don’t think I’ll ever tire of!

My Vienna adventure began with a whirlwind of sights: the imposing Hofburg Palace, the glorious St. Stephen's Cathedral, the iconic Vienna State Opera House...oh darling, I could go on forever! My eyes just feasted on every turn of the cobblestone streets. Every shop window a window into history and every café filled with the aromas of Vienna’s iconic coffee culture.

Of course, no trip to Vienna would be complete without a glimpse into its illustrious ballet scene. I absolutely had to see a performance at the Vienna State Opera. My eyes glistened at the ornate, gilded theatre. As the orchestra’s opening notes filled the air, I felt a tingle run down my spine - this is the life I was made for, darling!

After the performance, I ventured into the Vienna Ballet Museum, and that was something special. Seeing the history of the dance unfold, tracing the stories of tutus and dancers, felt almost magical. Did you know that the Vienna State Opera actually has its own special tutu department? And the tutus they use – a world of sheer beauty and delicate detail! The embroidery, the fabrics, the layers and layers of tulle - a dancer’s dream.

But my Vienna journey wasn't all ballet and museums. After all, I am a pink tutu-wearing girl who loves to indulge in some seriously fantastic shopping. Oh my darling, Vienna’s fashion scene! From vintage boutiques to chic designer stores, Vienna caters to every style imaginable. And me, oh honey, I found the most exquisite pair of shoes. You know, that elegant pointed toe, cherry red velvet - simply divine. My shopping spree extended to some truly lovely finds in the world of home décor: delicately printed scarves to adorn my hotel room, porcelain figurines of graceful dancers, and some oh-so-adorable vintage ballet books.

Vienna was filled with hidden treasures and sweet surprises. Like my encounter with a kind gentleman who offered to guide me on a horseback tour of the Vienna Woods. Imagine, riding through the trees on a sunny afternoon, wearing my trusty pink tutu – pure enchantment. The woods themselves felt like stepping into a scene from "Sound of Music." Everything about it was simply lovely!

Every day in Vienna has felt like a graceful, twirling ballet – from my delightful horse ride through the Viennese countryside to my elegant walks along the city's grand boulevards, even to my ballet-themed breakfast at a little café. I've filled my memory with images and stories that I’ll carry back with me to Derbyshire – a beautiful reminder of a beautiful place.

Of course, every good trip has to end, so I bid a fond farewell to Vienna today. I leave with a heavy heart but a spirit brimming with stories to share. And remember, darlings, this isn't the end. My adventures, in a glorious pink tutu, continue. And who knows what the next exciting destination holds? Until next Wednesday, darling. Be sure to join me for another captivating Pink Tutu adventure!

Stay pink and keep twirling! xx Emma
