Post #975: A Whirlwind of Pink in Vienna!

Oh, my darlings! Vienna. What a dream! It truly feels like a scene straight out of a waltz, with its golden architecture, graceful streets, and… wait for it… delicious pastries!

Yes, my dears, I have arrived in Vienna, the heart of Central Europe and, thankfully, home to a plentiful supply of delectable pastries and coffee shops! How do I know this, you may ask? Well, since arriving this morning I've managed to explore the beautiful, charming streets of the Innerstadt – that's the Old Town, for all you non-German speakers out there!

I found the most stunning shop, filled with handcrafted pastries and fluffy cakes, the likes of which I haven’t seen even in the most exquisite French patisseries. Let’s just say, a certain little pink tutu has already made itself at home with a hefty slice of Sachertorte! It was simply heavenly. But enough about sugary delights, let’s dive into this exciting week!

From Ballet Shoes to Ballet Performances:

As always, Vienna did not disappoint when it came to the ballet world! Today, I popped over to the Vienna State Opera. The building itself is absolutely stunning – a grand masterpiece with intricate detail that feels like it’s been plucked straight out of a fairytale.

Inside, I found myself swept away by a captivating performance of "Giselle". You know, it's these sorts of historical ballets that remind me how important a strong understanding of history is to being a proper ballerina! I find that when you understand the history, the emotions and stories within a ballet come to life so much more fully. It's like weaving a tapestry, each thread connecting the past, the present, and the future of dance.

And of course, a ballet performance wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of "tutu time," right? Now, my dear friends, this is where it gets a bit personal. Let me tell you, after witnessing some truly exquisite tutus worn by the ballerinas on stage, I couldn't resist indulging in a little fashion exploration myself! You know how much I love my tutus. But here, in the heart of European fashion, it's an absolute treat!

From Tutu Shops to Horse-Drawn Carriages:

I stumbled upon the most delightful shop, tucked away in a quaint, narrow alleyway – it was like discovering a hidden treasure. I am talking about the "The Tutu Closet," a vintage tutu boutique, oh, it was delightful! It was absolutely overflowing with the most beautiful, hand-crafted tutus. Imagine a pink one, flowing with delicate feathers, with tiny embroidered pearls scattered across the layers! My head was spinning! My fingers just had to run across the tulle and satin. And, let’s not forget, my tutu-loving heart nearly burst out of my chest! I swear, I'm telling you, these tutus are literally going to bring a smile to the face of any ballerina.

Speaking of happiness and a "whirlwind" as I mentioned at the start, that leads me beautifully into the second half of my adventure today. A real touch of romance! I took a horse-drawn carriage ride through the city, with the air fragrant from nearby rose gardens, and the sunlight casting a golden glow over everything. We moved through the ancient streets at a gentle pace, taking in the grandeur of St. Stephen's Cathedral and the iconic Belvedere Palace.

Just picture it, dear friends, my pink tutu swirling slightly in the breeze, accompanied by the rhythmic clopping of hooves and the gentle jingling of the carriage bells – a little touch of magic. There's truly nothing like exploring a city from this unique vantage point. I felt like I was living out a fairytale, twirling my way through a storybook world.

Fashion Notes From Vienna:

While Vienna is truly beautiful, my fashion radar went off in a whirl when I happened upon the Vienna Fashion Week happening here in the capital this week. My goodness, my dears! What a whirlwind of color, creativity, and style! Fashion lovers, like yours truly, are definitely spoiled for choice with these exquisite events.

As for my own personal wardrobe, I couldn’t resist picking up some lovely treasures: a pair of emerald green velvet pumps for the stage, a dainty pearl-studded beret for the cold evenings (Vienna is already giving a taste of the cold winters!), and of course, a stunning silk scarf – all in various shades of pink!

But Wait, There's More!

There is much, much more that I'm looking forward to sharing about my adventures in Vienna. I can’t wait to show you the sights: the grandeur of Schönbrunn Palace, a delightful walk along the Danube Canal (oh, I have to try a Wiener Schnitzel, darling! ), and some delightful surprises hidden within Vienna’s beautiful old architecture.

This beautiful city definitely makes me want to do a full ballerina pirouette. (If you haven’t guessed, Vienna and I get on like a house on fire!) And speaking of the future, what’s coming up? Stay tuned for my next post from this incredible place on next Wednesday! Until then, don't forget to sprinkle a little bit of pink into your week and get twirling!

Yours always, Emma xx
