Vienna, Darling! - Post #1002

Oh my darlings, it's Wednesday, which means it's time for another pink-tutu filled blog post! This week I'm bursting with excitement to be writing from Vienna, the most beautiful, romantic, and enchanting city I've ever seen. As you all know, I live for travel, and hopping on the Eurostar and making my way here was simply magical. There's just something about the whizzing past the scenery that truly takes me to a happy place!

And speaking of magical, Vienna is certainly that. My week here has been nothing short of a whimsical dream! Imagine, my darlings, strolling through cobblestone streets, sipping Viennese coffee in quaint cafés, and marvelling at the opulence of the imperial palaces – a truly breathtaking experience. The air here is simply electrifying, a heady mix of history, culture, and just a dash of that decadent, fairytale magic I adore!

I think the first thing that struck me about Vienna was the beauty of its architecture. These grand buildings are positively bursting with grandeur, and the pastel colours just make my heart sing! I particularly love the Vienna State Opera House. It's absolutely stunning – so majestic and ornate. It really does take my breath away. Oh, and you should have seen the tutus at the Vienna Opera Ballet, darlings! Simply exquisite! I may or may not have squealed with delight when I saw them – after all, it's my sacred duty to admire all tutus, wherever I find them!

Speaking of ballet, this week's blog is all about how I've been incorporating my love of this enchanting art form into my Vienna adventures.

Firstly, there was the performance at the Vienna State Opera House, a masterpiece of storytelling and movement. The costumes were utterly gorgeous, and the ballerina's pirouettes were just exquisite! Every step felt like a poem, a whisper of beauty, a tapestry of grace and elegance woven into the air. My darling friends, let me tell you, the waltz performed here was positively divine!

After the performance, I simply had to go exploring. I am, of course, on a never-ending mission to discover the very best tutu shops in every city I visit! This week, I found a truly enchanting shop nestled away in the heart of Vienna's old town, filled with delicate, vintage tutus and sparkling fabrics in every shade imaginable. I indulged in a stunning powder pink tutu, complete with an intricate flower embroidery – it's already made several appearances on my Vienna walks, much to the delight of the locals, who absolutely adore the splash of colour it brings to the city's beautiful scenery. I know what you're thinking – you want to know what shop it is! Of course, I'll include all the deets at the end of the post! My darling readers are my absolute top priority, after all.

Then, as I'm sure you can imagine, I simply had to try some Viennese ballet. There's a lovely school I found in the old town, offering a wide array of classes, from classical to contemporary. The first time I walked into that studio, a wave of nostalgic feeling swept over me! The warmth of the wood floor beneath my feet, the gentle hum of the piano, and the vibrant scent of pine – a symphony of ballet memories! I, of course, wore my brand new pink tutu. Let's face it, it was the perfect ensemble for embracing my inner ballerina.

My time in the studio has given me a deep appreciation for the power and beauty of this art form. I felt like a child again, exploring the joys of movement and grace. Oh, and my darling friends, let me tell you – the locals here in Vienna absolutely adore seeing my pink tutu flitting about the streets. The smiles and cheerful “Guten Tag!”s make every ballet class a truly delightful adventure.

But Vienna isn't all ballet, darling. It's also a city overflowing with fashion. You could easily spend a lifetime exploring its boutiques and discovering unique and glamorous garments. As soon as I arrived, I headed to a beautiful vintage boutique I’d read about in a magazine. It was stuffed full of stylish treasures from bygone eras – exquisite hats, perfectly tailored coats, and dazzling jewellery that could easily belong in a fairytale. My shopping trip resulted in a delightful cream lace dress with delicate floral embroidery. Let me tell you, I couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel and pair it with my sparkly pink ballet shoes and a touch of shimmery pink makeup!

There are also some amazing vintage shops for those fabulous old tutus. And as you know, I love a good rummage around vintage clothing stores. You just never know what kind of delightful fashion surprises await. I snagged a stunning vintage pink tulle tutu with delicate satin ribbons. Let's just say I wore it everywhere and I can’t wait to share photos in my next blog post!

However, fashion isn’t all about the clothes, darlings. It’s about finding what suits you, what makes you feel happy, confident and, most importantly, fabulous. I simply adore that in Vienna, even if the people here dress in the most demure style imaginable, the air hums with a glamorous sense of joie de vivre, which I just can’t help but get swept away by.

Of course, I wouldn’t dream of leaving Vienna without experiencing the iconic Lipizzaner stallions, performing in the Spanish Riding School. Oh my, they were a sight to behold! They were so majestic, so graceful – truly the kings and queens of the equestrian world. The way they danced to the music, their movements a whirlwind of precision and elegance, took my breath away! It was such a magical experience, and one I'll be dreaming about for weeks to come.

In fact, I feel that this is an experience every person on the planet should have! It was such a beautiful exhibition of grace and precision, and it really reinforced for me how elegance and style are to be found in every aspect of life, whether it’s ballet, horseback riding, or even in the art of simply having a cup of coffee in a beautifully designed cafe.

Vienna, you have stolen my heart! With every twist and turn, you’ve embraced me in a whirl of magic, romance, and exquisite beauty. My pink tutu is officially yours – I will carry the memories of your fairytale streets, your graceful waltzes, and your breathtaking palaces forever in my heart!

And as you know, darlings, no blog post would be complete without a dose of sartorial inspiration! So here are a few tips on how to bring a touch of Viennese enchantment into your wardrobe:

  • Embrace delicate lace: Think romantic, flowing fabrics, light as a whisper.
  • Add a splash of pink: A pink scarf, a pink headband, or a pink-hued blush can instantly elevate any outfit.
  • Get inspired by history: Look for vintage finds – there are countless treasures out there waiting to be discovered!
  • Accessorize with flair: A statement necklace, a sparkling headband, or a pair of elegant earrings can add a touch of glam to even the simplest outfit.

Until next week, my darlings. And don't forget, the best way to travel the world is in a pink tutu!
